Motely idiots comparing shop BlackBerry prices which are unlocked and are $100 greater than carrier prices. Try $799 at Rogers no contract, Priv is priced below comparable speced iPhone and Samsung devices

On my personal view, Priv can be priced like that... but Passport and other BB10 devices priced at premium, should not...

Let's just see what happens. I admit the price has me worried too, but I am still going to buy one.

That's because they don't have to let go of BB10 in order to see the advantages of the Priv.

The price will not sink the Priv and MFs assessment is based only on the few security tweaks they know of. If they based their opinion on an actual Priv in hand they might be singing a different tune.

As for the price, it was pointed out on the most recent BerryFlow podcast that the higher price point means they can sell less phones. Point being that it will be easier for BlackBerry to sell less phones at ~$700 USD and make more money than selling more phones at ~$500, say, because the likelihood of selling less phones (5M) at $700 would be more easily attainable than selling more phones (10M) at $500.

Right, okay. Android has it's share of bafoons, too. I mean, tell an Android fanboy that a "tech-savvy" person may prefer the iPhone and watch the bombs go off. BlackBerry and the Priv are not a threat to the Android community although some are dissing the pkb hardcore, though.

CrackBerry has always had its share of characters and critics, sure, but I think it is safe to say that the recent spat of hostilities are directly related to the sheer numbers of new users who appeared out of nowhere around here. But yes, they should stop. A good starting point would be for n00bs to stop proselytizing how awesome Android is.

Look, many of us transitioned from BBOS7 to BB10 and now this is happening. BB10 was supposed to be the OS that took BlackBerry and its users up to speed and many of feel that they delivered on the OS and with some of the hardware but continued to fail on all other fronts. I think it is safe to say that Android is the one OS that CrackBerrians like the least and yeah, instead of giving us the predecessor to the Z30 or the BB10 slider that many want BlackBerry took both and brought them to Android. Talk about adding insult to injury! And then you got all these out-from-nowhere goobers running around stoking the flames but no, they ain't the trolls; somehow the longterm diehard crackberry addict is. Why some of us are so salty should not be a tough conclusion to reach.

Maybe it's best the priv does sink then, and the company will cease making mobile phones and everyone can drift off into apple or Android heaven, and the jealousy and bickering will end..

I don't see many people talking about the corporate side, this article does touch on it though,

BYOD to the security conscious is a headache at best, for the tiny percent of users that WE allow to do this we were using Good (which BBY recently bought up), for the other 99% of user we still churn out bb10 devices perpetually as old units break etc..

We have been up against BYOD for a couple of years and thi Priv may finally give us something the users actually really want...

As per the article It would only start off as something management would be offered I'm sure but as the price goes down the more we would buy - just the same as the other devices

Actually made me not question the price of the Priv. I don't need to explain anything, just look at the prices in either US $ or CAD $.

The problem with his list is he doesn't mention that the iPhone prices are for the base 16GB models. The Priv has 32GB of storage and is expandable up to 2TB. The cost of the 6s+ in Canada starts at $1029 for 16GB, $1159 for 64GB and $1289 for 128GB. If they think that the Priv is overpriced for the specs included I would like to know what they think of the other phones prices. For me paying $1029 for 16GB is insulting to my intelligence and should be to others as well. I got the prices off Apple's site.

I don't know why some of the media is so surprised about the price of the Priv. Of course you can get similar devices for less, but you can also get them for more.

If the Priv is not selling well, it's not because of the price I think.

We had a crew of IT guys out yesterday for our income security and cameras etc. We got to talking about the Blackberry since I could not download an app from google (without side loading) that pertained to home security. All of the team used to own Blackberries. All were aware of the Priv, and miss certain things about the Blackberry. But they all said they believe that Samsung will buy out the Priv and the Priv will just be another Samsung phone in under two years. None expressed any interest in the Priv even though they used to be loyal Blackberry customers and are Canadian and want to support a Canadian company. I mention this as I think they may be fairly typical of the Canadian consumer.

I have had most iPhones, the last 4 Samsung Galaxy phones and an HTC M8. The Priv looks to be substantially better than all mentioned. I have never owned a Blackberry before, yet I am extremely excited to pick up my Priv on Nov. 6. The price seems fine to me, it is about what I would expect from a phone of this quality with the best of Android and Blackberry combined.

Why is everyone so goddamned entitled these days. Does everyone expect a phone to be made custom to their every whim? Most people have no idea what they want anyway. Just a bunch of arrogant talking heads that like the sound of their own voice and probably the smell of their own farts. Get over yourselves. If you don't like the phone and are not going to be picking one up just STFU about it. No one cares!
