I'll keep my original Passport until it dies, then I'll get the silver Passport. This is the best smartphone I've ever owned, despite the lack of native apps. I'd hate to go back to Android. It is a clumsy cluster**** of an OS. And that has nothing to do with brand loyalty or anything. I've used all the major mobile OSes and nothing works as smooth as BB OS10. iOS is severely crippled, Android is messy and unpredictable, WP is ugly and crippled. OS10 has the functionality of Android without being messy and insecure. The Passport is actually the first smartphone I've had for one year (almost) without feeling the need to upgrade. Frankly, that's partly because there doesn't exist any upgrade from this beautiful beast.*And with the release of the Priv, I doubt there ever will.

The Passport also has the superior form factor. I've had all sorts of full keyboard phones; from Nokia's laptop-phones (Communicators), to the E61/E71 etc., to various Android sliders, and there is absolutely no doubt in my mind which form factor is easiest to use and makes you the most productive. Hint: It's the one where the keyboard is always visible.

I think you're proving the point that a BB10 Priv would fail, as in limited sales, since not every current BB10 user wants a slider, but an upgraded Z10, Q10, Z30, Classic, Passport...
I think, dare I say it, BlackBerry should copy apple and limit the phones! One decent keyboard phone (passport? As I'm biased) and one decent touchscreen. Then just upgrade and innovate on it each year or so. (for decent read, good, top specs, phenomenal, appeals to the masses)
Btw I've never had an apple phone and I'm resisting as long as I can

    Swiped on my beautiful Passport!

Barbarern......do you know how to sideload Snap on your Passport....you will have any Android app you want.

I have Snap on my Z30 and, recently, put it on 3 BlackBerry Classics for family and friends.....all love it.

    Look it up on CrackBerry...

The BB10 was a total disappointment until the keyboarded Q10 came out.

Then waited for the Classic with a trackpad.

Have the Q10 for a couple years, but the OS has not been upgraded to bring back Categories for Contacts, which BBOS has.

Have upgraded the Q10 to leaked OSs as soom as they come out, just to keep up -- but not to use as my main device!

But the BlackBerry I use every day is the 9900, with
    • physical keyboard
    • trackpad
    • Categories for Contacts

When Categories (which is just software) is available, I'll upgrade, to whichever BlackBerry has all three.

I'm not going to lose all the category info, which I often use, for my 6,000 plus contacts.

I will be. My Passport OG was stolen, so I'll hold on with my Z10 till launch date. It may be Android, but I trust that BB will have a great version of the OS on the PRIV.

I'm getting the device but I won't be switching. I'll use my Passport as my daily driver and use the Slider as an alternative. I'll run it through the paces and see how it stacks up to my Passport.

Seriously? Members here have been bashing Android since day one. The slow, buggy, lagging , open source OS that sucks. I think I've used every adjective that has been thrown around this site when Android is mentioned. You just cant make this sh!t up!!!

Kinda like PB users trusted BB right? Look up the word "Sheeple" and there is a link to this site now. LOL

I'm currently on a passport and honestly do like the look of the Priv...I love my passport, which I had a z10 and z30 before, and I completely understand the evolution to a android fork with BlackBerry features / services.

I don't think it's abandonment nor any sort of giving up on bb10. The company has to continue to be relevant and push it's services, including securing the very os over 80% of the market uses....

They are an end to end security service based company. If they still can get any part of the hardware market, while maintaining the largest piece of the MDM pie, well that works for me. The Priv may simply prove they can make an enterprise ready android device.

Man it is sad that one of OUR famed hardware device is not going to be BB10. BlackBerry makes these unique device with innovation Passport, Torch, Bold. And we're giving it to android. We should just give them a full touchscreen device instead.

Ever since I gave up my 9810 for my Z30 I've been waiting for a BB10 slider. Sounds like I'm out of luck. BB Android? Absolutely not! I guess I'll have to roll with a Passport or maybe there will be a Z30 successor. If I wanted an Android phone, I'd own one already.

I might. The reason I switched from an iPhone was BECAUSE I loved BB10 software. If I got the Priv I'd probably end up using it more as a touch screen phone. Sticking with my Q10 for now!

I might get one just to play with but not to use as a communication tool. Never. It might make a half decent 'tablet' that's not a tablet. Whatever. Doesn't matter.

Android is a downgrade. I'm interested in the hardware and also to see just what BlackBerry does to android. Basically get one as a toy to play with, nothing more. If it knocks my socks off, which I highly doubt, then maybe I will have both feet slammed into my mouth. We'll see. If it is good for BlackBerry, then I hope they sell a ton of these.

Lol funny how people say they're getting the phone and it's not out yet and they haven't even tried it or even taken a look at reviews Jr anything if that sort.

For me, IF it's good to me then yeah, I'll get it. If it has all the goodness of BlackBerry with the customization of Android and apps of Play store, then why not?

But of course with my Z30 I currently don't have any reason to spend a cent on another device.

True, also equally funny how people in the forums on tearing it before it's even released but I digress. Not saying you, just in general.

Getting one to play around with. Nothing has taken me away from my Passport. Not my 6S, S6 or Note. Maybe it Priv may do it but I don't think it will. Excited for BlackBerry though. Should peak lots of interest.
