Why every month there is a new security update?

Every monthly security bulletin brings the closure of several security issues in the Android OS and individual device drivers, with the fixes distributed by Google to OEMs (including BlackBerry/BlackBerry Mobile) and propagated by the OEMs through updates to their devices. Since something as complex as an entire consumer operating system built to run across countless device platforms (i.e. not the embedded system someone always ends up bringing up when threads like these appear), there will be issues, hence the necessity to make fixes and get them onto consumer devices. Apple puts them out, just not on a fixed schedule. BBOS doesn't do those because it's dead.

I thought BBOS got one every 16 months, whether it needs it or not.
