Hi, I ordered a Priv and should have it by next week. Coming from a Passport, is there anything major I need to know? Also, how easy is it to transfer your data, BBM etc. from BB10 to Android?

Use the Content Transfer apps to move things from Passport to Priv. Easy peasy. If you are not familiar with Android, it may be a bit of an adjustment learning the ins and outsn where certain settings are and the best use of the three "buttons" at the bottom of the screen.

I also came from the Passport and really like my Priv. BlackBerry did a great job integrating their suite of apps. Now I have the best of both worlds.

The transition to BlackBerry Android takes less than a week if you accept that the BlackBerry Priv is not your familiar BlackBerry Passport. The physical keyboard should ease your transition. By the end of the first month the BlackBerry Priv might make you forget about your current smartphone. Enjoy the adventure!

I am waiting on a new Priv as well. If you use Content Transfer tool do all contacts in BB10 get transferred into the Contact app on the Priv?

I've found in the past it's not perfect and you may have some that don't transfer. Before I moved to the priv I put all my contacts on msn so they would all import when I set up that email account on my priv. I did the same with my calendar entries so I had nothing on the bb10 local calendar.

I kept all media on my sd card so there was no need to transfer those items.

Don't forget to export your password keeper to your sd card before you remove it so you can import that to the priv.

I would also recommend getting the phone and apps set up over a couple days before putting in your sim and daily driving it.

Expect to enjoy a good decision. There is a learning curve but once you start dabbling you will really like this phone.

Once you reestablish your BBID, bbm stuff will transfer. I use a gmail account and so my Contacts and Calendar transferred once I set it up in the Hub and included those two items. I did use Content transfer for sms (it only deals with 3,200 but I don't really text much - so sufficient) for to move Remember to the new Notes app (a poor excuse for an app)

I keep music, photos, etc on sdcard so just moved that over.

Thanks for all the responses. Is the COntent Transfer app something from BlackBerry? Is it a desktop app, or something I install on both devices?

Should already be installed on the priv (look in app drawer). You can install on your current device from BlackBerry world. If you want to transfer by wifi, you will have to remove the sd card from your current device first as it will default to the card (which you can use if you prefer that method)

Thanks everyone. I got the Priv last night and I successfully transferred my stuff. I am sooooooo happy I chose this over the DTEK60. I love the keyboard. I use the physical keyboard almost exclusively, and the glass weave back is soooo classy and grippy. Only issues are....

    1. The BlackBerry stock apps aren't available in Barbados (although I've never had that issue on BB10 devices)

2, Facebook and Facebook Messenger show up in the Hub as tabs but nothing populates in them.

That seems very weird. I can't imagine why they would be blocked. I'm not sure if there is any other source for them either legitimate or otherwise. Although, did Cobalt liberate them for other devices?????

Yes 100% agree. You might hate it at first and be tempted to go back because it's different, but if given time you will learn to love it.

That's true. And if you're using the phone while charging with the charger it came with, it doesn't always charge past where youre at, don't think it's powerful enough
