Nothing. You can't replace google now. Trust me, I've tried.

Maybe you can help by saying what Google now does that the others you have tried just can't do? Would love to learn from your experiences

I use Cortana.

Isn't hound supposed to be out of beta soon? Has gotten really good reviews

No, what I want is that you literally cannot replace it. Like nothing else works.
You can use cortana and stuff, but google now is just always gonna be there.
If you disable it, you also lose voice typing. Trust me, I tried.

Hound is out of beta and it's awesome. Been using it on my Z30 since beta and it works surprisingly well on that and keeps getting better. As soon I get my Priv that's one of the first things I'm going to install.
I didn't know Cortana had been released cross platform yet? If it did also like that experience too.

I actually started to use dragon. I set it as the center quick launch icon (yes. It's possible to not have Google now there). It seems to have the basic functionality I want.

I was put off by their Privacy Policy. Although it is probably no different than Google's. They own everything you say and can share with "certain partners!"
I can see, well, hear it now: "Hound what is a remedy for hemorrhoids?" And the ads start flowing in!!!!
You know I didn't even check it which is entirely on me, sounds kinda terrible actually, maybe I should go read it. But I used to be the guy who read all those EULA and Privacy Policies and you just come to realize that I probably wouldn't use a modern device or service if you disagreed with half the things in them. It's terrible the way some things have headed and we've just grown accustom to.

I'm one of those guys too. I read the privacy policy and am anxiously awaiting marshmallow for more control. Tons of apps on my wishlist that won't get installed until I can block certain permissions.
I was disgusted in my efforts to find a good calculator without unreasonable permissions.
Hound does not show up for me as I don't think it is available to Canada yet so haven't had a chance to see what it says.

Did you find a calculator that you liked?
I wonder how hard it would have been to port the bb10 calc to the Priv? Well, hard when you've let all of the programmers/develops go!!!
I found mobicalc which is OK and not too intrusive. But it does not do conversions and tip like BlackBerry calculator. I'm still on the hunt but hope marshmallow will make the selection easier when and if it arrives.
