Is it possible to use VKB on Priv? I wonder if one can install the Android app for keyboard and ignore the PKB?
There is an app called SwiftKey and this keyboard is excellent. I installed it on my Galaxy tablet and my wife's Galaxy phone. If I could use VKB on Priv, I would consider getting it. I must mention that I had the Curve, Bold and Torch for many years and thought that I would never want to peck on the screen but after 18 months with Z10 and 12 months with Z30 with their amazing BB10 keyboard I don't want to go back.

Short answer is yes. You can change the VKB like any other android device.

Yes you can install 3rd party keyboards. The Z10/Z30 VKB It's based on Swiftkey algorithms and will be on the Priv as well.

I would assume you can install swift. Any android phone can, you will always see the vkb unless the physical keyboard is slide out, so you never have to use it if you didn't want to.

Yes, you can install any vkb you want. That being said, trust me, you'll want to stick with the blackberry one. It's easily the best.

I call you when I need you
    When my heart's on fire
You come to me, come to me
    Wild and wired

    You come to me,
    Give me everything I need

Give me a lifetime of promises
    And a world of dreams
    Speak the language of love
Like you know what it means

    It can't be wrong
Take my heart and make it strong, baby

    You're simply the best
    Better than all the rest
    Better than anyone
    Anyone I've ever met
    I'm stuck on your heart
I hang on every word you say
    Tear us apart
Baby, I would rather be dead

In your heart I see the start
Of every night and every day
In your eyes I get lost
    I get washed away

Just as long as I'm here in your arms
I could be in no better place

    You're simply the best
    Better than all the rest
    Better than anyone
    Anyone I've ever met
    I'm stuck on your heart
I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, no, no, no
Baby, I would rather be dead

Each time you leave me I start losing control
You're walking away with my heart and my soul
I can feel you even when I'm alone,
    Oh, baby, don't let go!

    You're the best
    Better than all the rest
    Better than anyone
    Anyone I've ever met
    I'm stuck on your heart
I hang on every word you say
    Tear us apart, no, no
Baby, I would rather be dead

    You're the best

    Yes you can flick
It was on the specs leaked on the shopbb website before they took it down
It's the same keyboard as the BB10 virtual keyboard, part of the BB suite on android
You can use any other virtual keyboard you want to install, but I'm not sure why you would want to

I tried to use the SwiftKey VKB on my tablet when I tweet and just can't get used to it so I'm glad the BlackBerry VKB is moving over.

Thanks everyone for answering my question.
Absence of VKB would be the only obstacle for me. Now it's removed so I have no excuse for not getting the Priv even if I dislike it's name.

Virtual keyboards are labelled as a MUST in the Android compliance document, you have to ship with one and you MUST allow users the ability to swap it for another one (there are various MUST in the compliance, in 6.0, you MUST enable doze without interference, you MUST show all battery information related to apps and you MUST allow tap and pay - there is other stuff as well).
