- So I went to return that Priv I got from Staples and the clerk asked what was wrong with it. I gave it to her and asked to her to using the keyboard and I said, press on the key 0 and she noticed it immediately. "Oh Yea it doesn't work".
It does work but not if you're typing on it normally, it's like a stuck button. You have to literally stop your workflow and then focus on striking it at a certain angle...
Anyways, that's the 5th Priv in a row with the same issue, all with varying degrees of impact. I would have kept this last one had it not been for the sticking sliding mechanism.
Sad day but not surprising.
Posted via CB1012-17-16 11:15 AMLike 0 - And overpriced with everything! Ever see their clearance section? A really old phone case for example shows a regular price of $39.99 and the clearance sticker shows a price of $39.49 WOW

Posted via CB1012-17-16 11:41 AMLike 0 - I was very happy to see a BlackBerry in the Staple's flyer this week. An actual print ad!! For a BlackBerry!
It's the DTek50.
It was 400. It was the most expensive of all the phones listed in their unlocked section. It had the lowest specs of most of them.
I was less excited to see a BlackBerry for sale in print.

My first PRIV was a flawless, perfect keyboard that had a tactile experience close to traditional BlackBerry keyboards, I almost couldn't believe people's complaints about the "mushy" PRIV keyboard.
I actually proclaimed they must have improved their assembly with time.
Note I've had 6 privs. I've returned 5 for the same keyboard issues.
The first one bought back in July I couldn't justify the price at the time so I returned it.
Now I regret sending that one back loll
Anyone who bought PlayBooks can recall, you could go through unit after unit and they'd all have dead pixels... so not that hard to believe.12-17-16 11:47 AMLike 0 - Wait, so you bought one, couldn't justify the cost after the fact, so returned it... But the reason for returning it wasn't that anything was wrong with it, it's just that you couldn't afford it after the fact?
You realize that every device returned for such a stupid reason costs the company money, making BlackBerry even less profitable, right?
Seems to me you should have remembered: Karma is a *****.12-17-16 12:01 PMLike 0 -
Priv bought 3 weeks ago also perfect so far (touch wood). Love the keyboard, no heat or lag issues. Gorgeous device.

- I'm still having a hard time with this title of the thread. A clerk vindicated you versus they said, yeah, that key doesn't work? Had everyone else told you you were full of it? Just seems overly dramatic.
Anyway, it still sucks to go through so many.

When I read threads like this I'm always a bit suspect and skeptical based on my personal experience with my year plus old Priv.

I realize some PBs did have some pixel issues but it was not common place. The PB was definitely a class act as far as quality of build went.FF22 likes this.12-19-16 12:39 AMLike 1 - Two Playbooks with no issues even after all these years. One did plenty of traveling, too.
Priv's, two, one from March with no problems.12-19-16 08:52 AMLike 0 - I have found that the 0 key on my PRIV seems to be dual purpose, it also brings up a speech recognition app as well, if you press the key more on the right-hand side.
To me it looks like they key is a dual-purpose one. Maybe this is the root of your problem.
As for me, I'm going to keep on soldiering on - I will get the hang of using this properly and will enjoy the device tremendously!
Interestingly, I have 3 grand-children who are now old enough to have their own phones - my PRIV is causing quite a stir with them and with more than one other person. It seems to have a LOT more impact, more "cool" factor than my Classic ever did.12-19-16 09:14 AMLike 0 - I have found that the 0 key on my PRIV seems to be dual purpose, it also brings up a speech recognition app as well, if you press the key more on the right-hand side.
