- For whatever it's worth...I had to speak with a tier 2 BlackBerry tech specialist last night and while waiting for an issue to boot up he checked on the Priv. Said he can confirm that they will definitely be selling it on their network but there was no info as to when (and even he did have that info he could not tell me).
So, there's that.

- Give the guy a break! I have also heard rumors a few weeks ago that the Priv would NOT be coming to Verizon. I appreciate that he shared this information knowing I don't have to switch carriers after all.10-21-15 02:30 PMLike 3

That said I wold think with all the corporate accounts that Verizon has they would want the PRIV..... can you even get a CDMA BlackPhone?
Not sure we'll see one in every retail location... but as long as it's available!10-21-15 02:53 PMLike 0 -
- I've been at this a pretty long time. I know how much or how little VZW reps are told and are allowed to say (pretty much zip on both counts). I also know how to get to senior people and departments and how to judge what I'm hearing.
I just got off the phone with a supervisor at an advanced group of VZW tech support. She said it's confirmed it will be coming out soon (yes, I know we know that -- I'm just providing even more confirmation and reporting what she told me), and that, as to when, well, she said that for the years she's been with VZW they typically release major new phones around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, and to watch for it around that time. She said they have not been given any information as to when it will release, but that that time frame seems highly reliable to her. She said it's very unlikely it would be after the Christmas shopping rush, and that the days of VZW taking months longer than others to test and approve phones are probably long gone by now -- especially with John Chen at the helm of BB (okay, so I added that last part, about John Chen, and she just agreed).
She said the pre-ordering on ShopBlackBerry and low-fanfare initial shipments of the GSM phones are surely so they can test the waters before a more full-scale roll-out (which, again, I realize many of us already know -- though it seems many people haven't considered this aspect of things).
I want to emphasize that she was pretty emphatic in repeatedly indicating that for it to be any later than late November is extremely unlikely in her judgment -- and I have a feeling she was basing that on, well, let's hope a bit more insight and information than she was saying she was privy to (I say that partly out of optimism and partly because, well, she was not couching or qualifying her prediction enough to leave room for anything else).10-25-15 05:48 PMLike 5 - I've been at this a pretty long time. Posted via CB1010-25-15 06:14 PMLike 0 - Well I hope they actually have this one in store so we can look at it before we buy it. The reviews on the z30 were good enough I bought one, but that doesn't replace actually trying it out first-hand.

- Why doesn't Blackberry just tell us? They seem to be stuck back in 2007 when they would release a phone for one carrier. No major OEM's do this type of thing now. They release it for all carriers right away. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.10-26-15 05:51 AMLike 0
- I already plan to move to AT&T once I receive my Priv. Here are my reasons why if anyone cares.
VZW has a tendency to alter Android OS - disabling some features that make the phone unique. They did this with my LG G4. I was not happy.
In my area, VZW service is not superior to the competition to justify a premium price.
VZW is terrible with delivering updates to devices while other carriers, especially GSM seem to have them available just weeks after.

The ONLY main reason to switch is for a GSM phone so I don't have to worry about if a carrier will have a phone I like, but then again it only seems to be BlackBerry's I'm concerned about and if this is their "last ditch effort" will this switch be in vain? Cause I have never considered android at ALL, only dabbled in iOS 5 for a year or so and have always used a BlackBerry. I like the idea of a Nexus and getting my updates directly from the maker versus waiting and waiting for a carrier, but a less secure version of Android makes me nervous.

Enter the Applicant Code as "L6A" for BlackBerry, then filter by Action Date. You want to put start October, end December (yes it needs an end date, only from doesn't work)Camelhmpz and Z30Commission like this.10-26-15 07:40 AMLike 2 - Anyone can do the search.
