I have never bought a phone off contract as soon as it was released. I have generally just upgraded with AT&T when the time came. However, with the Priv, I plan on buying it off unlocked off contract at the first opportunity.

My question is, if the release date is late November for American carriers such as AT&T, does that mean I could presumably get the phone earlier if I am buying it unlocked? I ask because I was not sure what past history said about the way Blackberry has released their phones. If so, where would I order it from? Pre order? A Canadian dealer? Amazon?

    Thanks for any information.

Fastest way to get new BlackBerry lately is Shop BlackBerry unlocked or Amazon.

Pay close attention though since carriers may have exclusive models with special features. Don't know as of yet.

As it's a new device running a new OS, there's no telling what BlackBerry has lined up for it but there is a chance that buying direct from BlackBerry could have allow you to have it slightly earlier. Some variations of the Passport were made available online before anywhere else but by much.. only a few days.
