Thanks a lot for the info, I was not aware of this benefit and for sure it's very useful... I will call them tomorrow and report back my findings... happy Sunday!

Gallopiton, it looks like it's available on all the discover cards... here is an in depth view on the purchase protection from various credit card companies... the best part is discover covers even the black Friday sales...

Don't forget, too, that if you have a card that earns you cashback or rewards (like points or miles), it can be a good thing.

The Purchase Security Insurance and Extended Warrantly insurance appear to be on all RBC Visa cards, even the no-fee ones.
    See page 12:

Nothing about Price Protection, at least not on the card types that I looked at.

I think it's actually Visa Canada that's not offering it. All my Mastercards have it.

I remember back in Hong Kong some premium cards also offer that as a benefit. And definitely not all cards here.

For everyone with a discover card in US let me tell you that the cards indeed offer this benefit (price protection)... I am supposed to receive a call from a supervisor later because I am still wondering how this is not listed for your knowledge as a customer... if it's not for this thread I'd never known about this...

Erm...just want to make sure people read the fine print of their credit card agreements and insurance documents to make sure they are actually covered under price protection before they go and charge it. I was gung-ho until I started looking at the Capital One stuff in Canada (Costco MasterCard):

    Price Protection Service is not
available in respect of the following:
