Remember the 9780 and Z30 on AT&T? We know the devices existed, but that doesn't mean they will decide to carry them after they test them

I am not sure how it's in the USA, but I had an unlocked Nexus 5 device and when I put a SIM card in it, 2 of my carrier apps got pushed on my device directly from google play. I could uninstall them very easily, but they were pushed to my device. Maybe something similar is happening there.

Why would they put a T-Mob SIM though, Baka is Canada based.

Remember the Passport + T-mob talk? Yeah relationship went south before it even recovered properly. The only difference is it didn't go public this time.

No idea. I don't even know that Baka was a carrier. I am from Europe and am not very familiar with North american carriers. I was just offering a possibility.

Not a carrier but a retailer in Canada.

Just one thing... these same reps also said that AT&T has an "exclusive".

Wow. That is lame, @ least you can get a working phone on your network unlike Verizon Wireless and sprint.

Since att is not an "exclusive" carrier after all with the Priv, looks highly likely Verizon will release it next year. ... logically

    Guess evleaks was incorrect.

I was ready to drop Sprint for T-mobile and this phone, now sad. Wanted it branded for wifi calling, go-go inflight texting, and etc.

Again, take these reports with a grain of salt. No offense to OP, but a lot of time these front line inernet reps have little to no idea of what's going on. I'm sure we'll get clarification soon from BlackBerry.

Not sure I see what the problem is. You can purchase an unlocked phone and since said phone is designed for GSM network, it should work on T-Mobile. Hence the response tweet from T-Mobile saying it will work on their network. Besides, an unlocked version is way better in terms of getting quicker updates. So what's the problem?

I think that this is most likely it. Reps are so notorious for not knowing anything. Really, the blame is on management who should be keeping them informed, but either way, it's hard to trust what reps say. There's no reason T-Mobile wouldn't/shouldn't carry this phone.

TMOB branded phones have TMOB wifi calling thats the main draw vs using unlocked.

Because loads of people that are optimistic about the Priv's chances of success predicate their projection partly on the idea that wide carrier penetration will mitigate the off-contract price. If it's true that T-Mobile is not offering the device on-contract, that means that you have only AT&T carrying it on-contract at launch, with Verizon and Sprint being currently unannounced and probably delayed until after the first of the year. That doesn't bode well for the Priv's key first quarter.
