    It's wrong.

Chen himself said (yesterday) he will not pay the cost of building the BB10 drivers for the Priv.

Ditto, don't always believe everything you read on the Internet. I'll believe Chen words over anything. It's just some random user on reddit claiming that. And if Chen himself said the cost is not worth it then he hasn't made one.

Maybe it was a BB10 slider with Snapdragon S4 under the hood.

That's actually VERY possible - as an engineering mock-up. Things like that are done all the time during development (they could 3D-print a case that could house, say, a Leap motherboard). But as we all know, that means little or nothing about the final product that goes on sale to customers.

And if in March the 10.3 update erases the Android run time on all BB10 devices where will you run to then? lol

If android at it's core is open source, couldn't bb10 be adapted to simply use the android drivers? The devs should have access to there code, or no? Isn't Android also Unix based, like qnx?

Yes, in the same way that you can put an aircraft engine in a car. Possible, but prohibitively difficult to do outside of a one-off hobbyist sort of thing.

I'm a big fan of BlackBerry and prefer to keep BB10, but if BlackBerry is getting rid of BB10 for Android I may start cross shopping Android devices. Unless BlackBerry can convince me that their phones are somehow actually more secure than the other phones using Android.
Until then I am still satisfied with my Passport. It is too bad they couldn't get all of the Android apps working with our OS.

According to a recent post by DarcyTallGuy, official releases like 10.3.2.680 and up have an OS block list like OS 0.0.0.0 to 10.3.2.658, so there may be no going back from any official release of 10.3.2.

Unix-like is probably a better term than Unix-based.

If BB10 was built on Linux (which I still think would have made more sense), then yes BB10 could have just used the same drivers. I'm not sure the drivers themselves are open source, though. They may be.

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.2.2639
So this means that there will not be any more BlackBerry 10 devices.

If it is expensive for the Priv, it will be expensive for any new device.

    Sad.

There are a number of reasons why BlackBerry won't be developing any more BB10 devices, the main one being that they have moved on to the Android OS. If the Priv is successful, there will be more Android devices, otherwise that will be it for BlackBerry hardware.

Yes, if they do it they will have compelling reasons for sure.

But it is sad for me anyway, because I will not support any Android flavour.
