The one they unveiled on MWC2015 was running bb10 but so far all the leak pictures I have seen, I see the Priv running Android. Are they going to release a Priv separately running BB10? It would be great if that happens. I wish to stick to BB10 as I can now run GP services and I like the OS visually and it's smooth. Better than Android.

Strange I taught Bla1ze said he had never seen a BB10 in operation on a "slider".... Was it running BB10 or did it appear to have a BB10 image?

As far as I know no one has seen or heard of a BB10 PRIV, Chen didn't mention one... which I really can't imagine why he wouldn't if they planned to release one. Maybe he's just focused on Android for now.... and a BB10 version will come later.

Or maybe BB10 has seen it last new device.... time will tell

Right, just the dummy device they showed off at MWC.

The one at MWC was not running anything - it was a dummy unit with a backlit photo on it.

Priv will be Android only. Chen said BB10 drivers for the Slider were too expensive.

No new BB10 units have been announced - only a small maintenance/security release (10.3.3) in 6 months from now.

Considering this was back in March, I highly doubt there was a functioning Priv that early. Most of the rumors was that was just an illuminated image on the phone. Probably just a Priv shell.

I think the biggest challenge in releasing BB10 on the Priv would be getting Snapdragon 808 BB10 drivers from Qualcomm. There have been rumors for awhile about Qualcomm not wanting to write any BB10 drivers for their new chips. Also, Chen in his talks today mentioned one of the issues they faced was the high cost of having Qualcomm create BB10 drivers.

Technically true, but there might be a P'9984 coming early next year and since its based off the Passport I'm sure it will run BB10. Maybe it will launch with 10.3.3?

Depend on if BB10's runtime is considered to be a forked version of the Android OS.... could very well be that no more new BB10 devices are allowed.

Next year I think any device they release will be Android.... a Passport Android "might" outsell the original pretty quickly.

I would put up a friendly wager that the Passport and Classic are actually the last BB10 devices.

It may sell better but there will be a lot of psst off people when they realize that the android apps on the Passport don't look the same due to screen size issues.

Not really.... the LEAP and Passport SE will most likely be the last BB10 devices released.

But what will be the last ones in production.... hope it the Z30 (if these are in production anymore), Passport and the Classic. In my view the LEAP was a mistake.

They didn't want people to know that it was running Android so they made it look like it's running BB10. There probably isn't a BB10 version of it, I hope they did though.

I'm buying the PRIV but I'd also buy a passport running Android.. All for the greater good.. All hail physical keyboards.

The Press Release says: " the new device will provide a choice in OS to new and existing customers", so to me that would mean that you can choose whether you want it to run Android or BB10.

Bla1ze might be right. A dummy device was shown on MWC2015. They could've just said it's running Android.

What that meant is that you could choose to buy a Classic, Leap, or Passport running BB10 or a Priv running Android. It didn't mean that you'd have the choice of either Android or BB10 on the Priv - despite what a few people hoped and pushed for.

As much I can understand the disappointment of users who hoped there would be a BB10 version can you all stop asking for it please? Now that we definitely know that there will be NOTHING like that at least until march 2016 please stop asking for it again and again. The Priv is an Android device and there will be no BB10 variant in the foreseeable future!

And I'll say it again: Some people here are so fanatically religious about BB10 that it almost scares me. It is about software guys, a product of a company, nothing else and nothing more!
