It really needs to be a minimum of 3500.. I have a note 4 with a 10,000 mAh battery and that holds me for 3 days of moderate usage. So 10,000 / 3 = 3333mAh is what I use on it and that's moderate usage. Considering the battery will not be replaceable I'd expect 3500.
I also think 3,000 is a bit on the light side, for a device with these specs. Then again, my OnePlus One, on CyanogenMod 12.1, has a 3,100 mAh battery, and lasts about as long as my Passport, with similar or identical apps and identical usage patterns. The Passport is apparently a bit less efficient. Both get me through an average day until bedtime, so I have no complaints. But I think 3,000 on the Venice would come up a bit short.

BlackBerry 10 isn't really efficient on battery, that's a fact...

I don't mind if they make it as thin as possible as long as it comes with a decent battery size. My Z30 barely lasts me through a day, sometimes I need a mid-day charge.

    Posted via CB10
check your Z30. Mine lasts a day and a third with normal use.

The Z30 has the perfect thickness, awesome battery. If the slider wants to replicate that it won't be as thin.

A device similary sized like the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge has 2600MAh battery... so the Venice WON'T be 3500MAh, and you don't need an IT qualification to know that, I even doubt that it would be even bigger than 3000MAh, the device just isn't big enought, there isn't just enough area inside the device like this to have a battery that big in the current state of technology.

I don't understand how some users expect a device this size to have a gigantic battery, I bet you have no clue on battery size/energy density that they can have. To have a 3500-4000mah battery you need a big device like a passport or a Note, or a very thick device.

take 2 min of your life and look at the specs of other phones out there regarding battery size to phone size ratio, and stop hoping for the "holy grail" of batterys

    Samsung S6 Active has a 3500mAh...
    BB Passport has a 3450mAh...
    OnePlus Two has a 3300mAh...
    and most importantly:
    Sony Xperia Z5 Premium with the dimensions 154.4 x 75.8 x 7.8 mm (6.08 x 2.98 x 0.31 in) has a 3430mAh... pretty impressive
let that sink in... 7.8mm, with a 3400+mAh battery...

The S6 is unreasonably thin. The Note 5 is also rather thin, and a 5.7" device, not all that much bigger than the rumored 5.4" Venice.

Does the Note have a slider mechanism and a physical keyboard behind the screen?

did you know that between a 5.7 and 5.4 inch screen is aprox. 10% of difference in efective area? so if we are talking in the 3000mah range, 10% can would dictate +\- 300mah diference.

Passport's screen is only 4.5", but has a big area. Measuring size of screen in diagonal can be deceiving in regarding the efective area. 5.

That sounds reasonable to me since it doesn't seem as slim as a Galaxy S6... not 3500-4000 mah like some people say that they will be disapointed if isn't that big

How about we "sink in" some maths?

Xperia Z5 has a volume of 91287 square centimeters, a Samsung Galaxy S6 has a volume of 67831 Square cm...

That means that the Z5 has aprox 35% more Volume than a Galaxy S6. A galaxy S6 has a 2550mah battery so if the S6 had 35% more volume: 2550+35%= 3442.5 mah ... wich is only 10mah of of what the Z5 has.

MAGIC!!! it all comes to volume ladys and gentleman... and don't forget venice will have a keyboard and slider mechanism to store unlike other phones.

Looking at this photo, less than 9.3mm seems unlikely, but more importantly, if it's thick then it would normally mean larger battery

The "thick" screen part is nothing but screen, the battery would be in the thinner part, so it's doubtful it will be a huge battery.

Volume is measured in cubic metres (or centimetres in this case). The Z5 has in fact a volume of 91.93 cubic cm. Just saying... the logic is correct though.

If I was the engineer designing the phone I would have split the battery in two slices to make use of all the space. The top part looks too thick to only house the display. We'll see though...

I just happen to have a look a my Passport and saw the pic of slider posted. No way in hell it is going to be thinner than 9.3. In fact I would peg it at 10mm because of slider mechanism. Blackberry knows the perils of running android on a small battery and they will have to consider at least a 3300mah one on this.

I would hope they could fit more than just the screen in the thicker part leaving more room in the back thinner area for a larger battery than we are used to in an area that size. Can't wait to see a teardown of this thing!

I would think that a high capacity battery, with its associated weight, would make typing on the Slider really difficult. Unless you put it on a table to type, but that would make no sense!

Do you have some mystical edition of the Note 4? It has a 3220 mAh battery. A 10,000 mAh battery is as thick as a math textbook.
