Having a closer look at some of the images of the leaked slider, I'm curious about the lower section of the screen.
Two images now show the lower ~1cm of the screen to appear notably different to the rest of the screen - almost as if it's a different technology.

In early shots (first pic below), the screen is bright and faded (probably little more than a backlight and transparency image over the top), however the lower section is drastically different. High contrast, seperate.

Likewise the second image shows a grey area in the same location with a back button.

Any ideas what this could be? A dedicated OLED "toolbar"?

It's been concluded many times that this was nothing more than a paper cutout of a screen image pasted ontop of a dummy prototype with a backlight.

What you see is BlackBerry's skill at printing, cutting and gluing. Not very high.

They applied that production and manufacture skill on the Passport.

Does it matter?
It was just a demo device. And looks like they're delivering faster this time around... :-)
