This doesn't affect the optics for smartphones.

    This is for Mirrorless cameras

I'm not sure that it's talking about lenses for mobile device cameras, by "compact" I think they were referring to the particular style of traditional cameras (e.g point and shoot). Either way, I'm sure there's more to this story.

Did you read the linked article? The lenses they are talking about are not mobile device lenses.

Ok, nothing in that article says anything about SK going out of business or abondoning the micro 16:9 smartphone market, etc. Pure FUD by posting that link here.

D...d..does this mean we won't have the 18mp camera in the dual-boot BB10/Android variant of the Priv being released in February 2016 that's being updated with the 5mp front facing camera, removable back and battery, USB C, wireless rapid charging, stylus-pen and the ability to set your device to turn on and turn off automatically at certain times?

Actually they say the optics are CERTIFIED by them or some such... they may be made of left over unglued Passport screens for all we know...

The PRADA Phone by LG (KE850), which I still use for daily voice communication, is equipped with lens manufactured by the German company.

Schneider doesn't manufacture the camera or lens on Priv.

    It's just a licensing deal.
