I just got a notification I've never seen before - that my Priv is hot and taking steps to cool itself off. Is that a new feature?

Nope, it's a standard feature that most all phones have had for many years. I used to see it happen a lot to the iPhones people I used to work with had when they'd leave them charging out in the sun. It's a protective system designed to stop your phone from frying itself. Might want to give it a rest :P

Mine is definitely running cooler now. Still heats when charging but thats not unusual.

Same issue here. Never had this issue before Marshmallow update. No new apps, and I have barely used my phone today...

One thing I can suggest if you're noticing this problem, would be to reboot the phone. It could be that some process is running away with your CPU and is preventing it from sleeping, a reboot will correct this. It can happen sometimes, depending on the apps you use and how they react to the upgrade process.

Got that once after the upgrade, and only straight after the upgrade from Beta 1 to Beta 2. Rebooted it and it was fine.

Since MM my phone is really cool. I'm yet to hit over 38 degrees Celsius.. Half brightness on and bbming and little gaming here and there, nova 3 to be specific, it's an app on your phone.

My guess is Facebook messenger and Facebook. Biggest culprits.

Mine went super hot, restarted the phone. The apps that were running before reboot were still running after reboot. None of them cleared in the app tray, shouldn't a reboot clear all those.

Make sure you all go into settings > accounts > google and turn it all off .
Same with settings > google > make sure stuff you don't need is off.
Also check permissions in Dtek and turn off all app locations you don't need. Major battery drain
