Codenamed Venice, perhaps. Highly doubt that will be the name at release.
Not that surprising because of the previous names for device. Passport. Leap. Classic (doesn't really count but who cares?)
The code name for the original BB10 prototype slider was a different Italian city... Milan.

Has a neat ring to it. I kind of like it. Sounds better than Visa.

Hmm, I don't think it would be called "Venice"
I'm sure that's just the code name (if true) like other devices. EG "Rio"

Whatever they call it should be better than .................. Leep!??
BlackBerry Liberty

I think there's already a phone called the Venice. Shouldn't they go for something original?
I agree, Venice is likely the code name for it.

Also says BlackBerry will release a rounded Passport for China.
Like an entirely new variant, or the one they have state side? I wonder why they'd do so many different variations if it's the former.

Was kinda hoping it would be called the Glide

Has to be a new SQW100-#; as far as network bands are concerned, China is the Moon.
Wouldn't be the first time BlackBerry made China-only variants (Curve 8980, Bold 9788).

If BlackBerry could make the rounded Passport available everywhere I would be so happy :) would mean my next upgrade is sorted! The "sharp" corners just don't do it for me.
But back on topic, I'm so eager to see what they name it. It's possibly going to be their Flagship device for the year. Needs to be something like
BlackBerry Sunrise
A device you can use throughout the day and night up till the next sunrise?

I don't mind Leap so much. Better than Storm, terrible name for an Smart Phone.
Isn't the Slider a Porsche Design phone? Which means it will have that ugly PORSCHE DESIGN logo on the front.
NO THE SLIDER IS NOT THE PORSCHE-DESIGN PHONE!
I think all caps is suitable for the 1,000,000th post wrongly making that assertion, yes?

Doubt it, Blackberry Z3 from what I recall is the only Blackberry with a name of a location in it, "Jakarta", which was because the Z3 was specifically tailored to that market. The slider is for all consumers, similar to the Passport, and thus makes me think it will most likely have a name that does not reference a location.
Jakarta was codename for the Z3. Dual purpose because it was an Indonesia-first release plus it's the J series. Hence the device code STJ100-x.
The slider is likely the V series and is rumoured to be SHV100-x.
I assume S is for smartphone. The second letter is T for touchscreen or Q for qwerty devices so far. The H would be for hybrid, one would assume.
Wasn't the Z30 code named "London"?
Maybe Venus (Goddess of Beauty ) would be better than Venice.

Z30 was Aristo i guess and z10 was Londen
STA vs STL :)

Older BB10 devices had individual codenames.
London, Liverpool, Lisbon, Laguna (STL100-X)
Newark, Naples, Nashville, Nevada, Newport (SQN100-X)
Aristo, Anisio, Athos, Aramis, Astro, AstroX, Argos (STA100-X)
Newer ones are just a codename + a location modifier.
WindermereNA, WinderemereROW, WindermereATT, WindermereVZW, WindermereSprint, WindermereChina (SQW100-X)
I was under the impression we were talking about finalized names for products, not code names.
Thanks.
Didn't know it for sure

I'd rather have BlackBerry cleverly name the device like how the passport is literally the same size as a passport, or how the classic is a throwback, and how the leap is for people to leap forward in their carreer.
