Spoke to my local Brampton, ON location. They have 10 units. Won't release until tomorrow - so I'm there at 10am tomorrow if my reserved phone doesn't ship.

    EDIT: no accessories yet unfotunately

If that the is device upgrade price I hope it is for off-contract. Otherwise you were screwed three ways by Satan.

Gulp! I was considering a device upgrade from BlackBerry Q5 to BlackBerry Priv but for CAD399.99 I might have to reconsider and/or wait at least 6 months for the price to settle out at sometime more reasonable. Two-year contract plus CAD399.99 is highway robbery by Rogers. The BlackBerry Priv is not a premium device in terms of technical specifications.

Really depends on what you are looking for... if you want a keyboard, it's the most premium device on the market.

But I agree... wait a little, at least till BlackFriday.....

Telus has the accessories at Shop Blackberry prices. Getting the phone at Rogers at 10am and crossing the street to Telus for the Tan flip cover and the black pull hard case.

Huh? What other than the front facing camera isn't 'premium' to you?
    What a joke statement

The AMOLED screen is not optimal for brightly-lit environments as far as I can remember from prior discussions about earlier BlackBerry smartphones. BlackBerry needs market share so the off-contract price of the BlackBerry Priv should be a loss-leader for the initial 2-3 months and based on sales-to-end-user figures the price can be bumped-up by 150%-250%. Of course this release might be John Chen's way of saying "I told you the hardware business is not profitable for us. We are now a services-only company. Yay! I will take my cash-out cheque in cash and bid you ado."

And as dawn slowly illuminated the landscape there was a thunderous sound of millions of boots running towards their nearest wireless carrier outlet while others quivered nervously awaiting the arrival of the FedEx driver. ;-) A wee bit of levity for BlackBerry Priv Launch Day.
