One of the very very useful abilities we had on bb10 was that we could turn off radio signal when we were on WiFi if we pleased so that we could save battery.
This isn't an option on android.
I managed to find some apps on the Google store but most of them required rooting wich is not an option. Others were functional only on older androids and other simply didn't work...
    Any suggestions?

I'm not sure but can you invoke Airplane Mode and then turn wifi back on by itself? I think I did that while in Europe to avoid any data/phone surprises.

    You definitely can
Invoke airplane mode, then turn on wifi
I've done it several times while traveling over the past 5 months

Absolutely spot on. Airplane mode, then turn on whatever service you need (wifi, Bluetooth, etc).
