I've been contemplating getting the priv. I HATE amoled screens for their burn in problems. Anyone experience this yet?

this is news to me also. I actually downloaded a Hud app for a speedometer yesterday and the app itself warned about burn-ins by using this app.. I was like huh? Now I'm learning that amoled screens can "burn in" ... uninstalled the app and now I'm curious how burn in occurs on these types of screens.

This was a problem when AMOLED screens were in their infancy. I have never had any burn-in issues on my Priv or on my previous Q10 that also had an AMOLED screen.

My screen is perfect. Use it a lot too. I have experienced 'image burn' on the original PS Vita. I keep the PRIV screen at its most dim level, unless I'm watching a hockey game or movie.

The PRIV screen is very durable though. 'Jerry Rig Everything' did a physical burn test using the flame from a lighter right on the screen, all the pixels recovered and it did no permanent damage. I know that's different, but it definitely shows how good the PRIV screen is. I don't think we'll have to worry.

My Z30 has an AmoLED screen.

    It's fine.

The blacks look very nice, but the screen never gets dark enough for my liking. Even on the lowest brightness the screen is a little too bright.

Perhaps not a burn-in per se, but the blue LED of the RGB palette does dim out faster than either the red or the green LEDs. This is characterized by a general green shift over the course of the phone's life. This is easily seen when comparing LCD vs AMOLED screens of the same age with a white background (say, two years).

I notice this. Anyone care to verify?

Don't burn ins usually occur after a LOT of use? The longest time that most people have owned the Priv is about 4 months last I heard. No one should be experiencing this that early into owning a phone unless it's defective.

I have only ever experienced burn in twice once on TV I was living at a friends house and we left the TV on all day paused on a music video. Came back changed the channel and the music video was still fairly visible. All we done was carry on watching TV then turned TV off over night. I also use my LCD TV as a my monitor and it is on constantly and it burnt the corners of Chrome in. I just changed the theme of Chrome and carried on using it. The burn has gone. IF this happened to a smart phone would doing this solve the issue?
