"Nearly 30 percent of Apple's 48.04 million iPhones sold in the last quarter went to customers coming from an Android handset. That's 14 million people new to iOS, helping Apple further build its iPhone base."

But as long as Apple "puts out" some kinda effort, it will win in the end.
    ...*sigh*

All that Iphone switching is really only happening in the U.S.A. Outside of the U.S., Android has a marketshare close to 80%. Why? Because Android devices are way less money than IPhones. Way less especially when you see the new androids coming out of China.... 1+2, Oppo, Huawei, Zenphone, etc. So yea, the people who can afford IPhones are getting them at the $750, $850, and (to a small extent) $950 a pop. And I'm not even counting the stupidly useless 16GB (no SD Card) versions of the IPhones. The ones that can't afford them are either getting Androids or whining in Crackberry about the high price of the Priv.

It's people in China trading their $100 Android basic phones for a flagship and many choosing IOS. Brand is everything in China and Apple holds the top spot. In NA and Euro, Apple is making progress but not so dramatic.

Android now has over a billion active users, for blackberry to even capture 1% of that they need to sell 14 million devices. Possible but not likely.

I agree with you and if John Chen can pull out a rabbit out his hat and hit well the world's 2nd biggest economy with some of the ads which many here hate being relative and find that the China taste (wishful thinking), we might be in for a surprise...

For me it's just marketing, because it's just shows part of data (convenient one for the subject). What is BlackBerry market share compared to Apple, that is Apple market share compared to Android.
But the question is OK if it's can Blackberry improve Android OS. I think Yes and it will for sure.

I believe Android now has limited chance in Dubai and ME with nicely priced iPhones 6s, iPhone 6s plus and the other complementing products like the iWatch, iPad and the iMac with direct easily accessible customer service and service centers!

Doubtful - simply because nobody has much success in china with android, its all AOSP knock-offs or stuff you'd struggle to sell via a carrier in the west because you'd be sued for IP infringement. Its why Google is dishonest when it talks about its billion figure because a significant number have nothing to do with them and are effectively "dark" to them. Even when they exist, they are often modded on the group by the carrier or seller.

Think back to what your parentals and teachers used to lecture - if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.
Always remember that we are all unique and at different levels here - some of us are experienced BlackBerry users and forum junkies, while others are just starting out. If you’re on the experienced side, have patience for those just joining in on the fun and be helpful. With a little patience and a little help they won’t be newbies for long. Also remember that it is our differences that keeps this place interesting. If everyone was from the same place and at the same experience level it would be boring. This is a worldwide community united by a common interest - our love, or addiction as some would call it, for the BlackBerry!
