Saw one today at Factory Direct in Toronto reconditioned for $449 CAD. Salesperson there said that they send out $30 coupons by mail periodically if you sign up to receive their email offers.

I got my PRIV on Amazon, new and unlocked, for $360 and with free shipping. $449 doesn't sound like too good of a deal if you ask me.

Isn't that the same price that ShopBB is offering for NEW UNlocked Priv's?

No. ShopBlackBerry Canada is $559. ShopBlackBerry US is $425. Factory Direct is a Canadian store.

    You're American. This is Canadian.

I'm sorry, I assumed that Amazon had some sort of international shipping. Is this not true?

In most cases, yes. That, however, doesn't change the fact they charge you in USD when buying on Amazon.com. If you're Canadian and buy something for $360 on Amazon.com, the currency exchange to is still going to apply, and as such you're not paying $360. You end up paying whatever the exchange rate is eg: 360 USD =478.440CAD currently.

And don't forget the duty/import charges!

Also, certified refurb isn't bad for that price, but I'm not sure if I'd just wanna spend an extra $100 and get a new one with warranty. I suppose you could buy their 1 year for $45 though.

Bigger dilemma for me is if I should wait for the Mercury with a better keyboard? And will the mercury specs exceed the Priv being that much newer?

    Hi Everybody!

I have a question! Is this a fully unlocked, unbranded model? Or is this left over unlocked AT&T stock that's been shipped to Factory Direct to unload unsold stock?

    Cheers!!

I believe it is an unlocked and unbranded one. (not AT&T). I'm actually going there in a couple of minutes to exchange something. I'll ask them to take it out of the showcase so that I can take a better look.

Certified refurb are you joking LOL

Factory Direct isn't a certitied refurbisher of BlackBerry phones. They just refurbish.

Don't confuse that with officially refurbished products by the actual company or certified 3rd parties where the units are as good as or better than off the assembly line.

But go buy from FD and learn your lessons!

You can buy an extended warranty for a year for pretty cheap. The unit looked brand new to me. Anyway, I think I still want to hold out for the Mercury.

Yeah you have to wonder what the fix was for the "it squeaks" or "it gets hot".

But I agree... If you have to add the warranty, are you really saving that much over a brand new phone?

Apparently these are AT&T Branded units, at least some of them are. While the price may be enticing, I would still rather go through Shop BlackBerry for more peace of mind.
