It's so frustrating when a company has so many chances to get it right and they constantly screw it up! It just boggles the mind

Having no official press launch is insane. Free advertising and they don't do it. It's unbelievable.

Agreed. I'm a shareholder and I only want this company to succeed but this farce of a launch is hard to stomach. With the many leaks, the stupid name, bumbling of Chen on BNN showing off the Priv 'running Google', the creepy killer in the shower ads, Beard saying it's an 'order' page and not a pre-order page, and this awful launch, this is just getting ridiculous.

I was looking for a thread like this - I need a place to complain

I'm hoping that a press release comes out later today, and first thing Monday morning, we see ads all over the place. I can't remember, but isn't Chen set to talk at some Google event coming up? Best case scenario is that Google/carriers help pimp this thing.

Please don't drop the ball, again, BlackBerry!

Think of it om the bright side, this way keeps the pre sale units from selling out too quick, gives the diehards first dibs they still have until Nov 6 to do a fancy announcement for the rest of the world.

I would imagine they would wait for carrier launch before an announcement, so the people on contracts can get it on launch day.

This preorder is to appease us crackberrians that can't wait and are willing to buy the device outright.

You have a launch event so there is no confusion about the specs, e.g. wireless charging.

Shouldn't they have sent the press a save-the-date announcement at least?

Maybe they are afraid one of the media will send a pretty reporter and Chen will throw up all over himself. Better to keep the press out?

Why would there be a launch event for pre-orders when the phone itself will not ship until Nov. 6th? Logic dictates launch event = ship date.

I mean, hey let's have a party for a phone that no consumer will see for another 2 -3 weeks. Right, okay.

BlackBerry published perhaps the most detailed spec sheet going more in-depth than any other phone except perhaps the iPhone. What more do you need to know?

Are you saying that, potentially, this pre-order move has been create for us CrackBerrians?

only time will tell, and I give you the benefit of the doubt, BUT, I also have to doubt the benefit of it, as a company point of view!

Now everyone, including us..can see why this amazing product line has very few customers and market share. Like you, I believe in the product, but the branding and the management do not act like they feel the same way.
Technology, more specifically mobile phone tech is one of the most competitive industries today, if you cannot utilize marketing properly, you will be out in the cold very fast #endofanera.
