Are you trying to screenshot an app?
Some apps like BBM won't allow shots of chats.

Im trying volume down+power. Ive also tried volume up+power. My volume rockers work normally for everything else. Ive tried screen shooting apps and just my home screen, cant get either to work

Do you have a file manager app? I wasn't able to find my screenshots until installing a file manager...they aren't kept in the default camera folder so you it can appear as if it isn't working.

So they aren't in the screenshots folder? I use Asus but tried ES...I think it has a separate folder for screenshots.

I'm pretty sure there is a screenshots folder...can somebody confirm? There isn't a notification...it just shows the screenshot briefly and then disappears.

Hold the power button and down volume button at the same time...the screen will appear briefly in a small frame then dissappear.

Yeah no screen shot folder in ES or photos app like the BlackBerry tutorial says there should be. Maybe the folder gets created after you take your first screenshot?

Pop up option to power off or reboot, like I said im not having any other problems that I know of, that why I was wondering if there was maybe a setting I might have turned off by accident that was keeping my screen shots from taking

Did you press and hold both buttons for 2s? Pressing both buttons only doesn't capture the screen.

In Google Photos you have to hit Device Folders in settings . The screen shots will show up there.

I was having this same problem taking screenshots on my Priv running 6.0 Marshmallow. I had taken screenshots in the past so I new it could be done. Once i rebooted VIOLA all the sudden it started working again with no issue. I hate that answer but a reboot got me back to doing screen shots again.

And with Android electronics, reboot even if you aren't having problems.
Clear cache and complete reboot, at least a couple times a month.
