My friend was using her new Priv. Commented that it was getting hot. Then it rebooted and wiped itself. She returned it and went back to her BlackBerry Torch.

Anyone hear of anything similar to this? I am a BlackBerry guy but not an Android guy and have no idea what might cause this.

had similar experience; 2 day old BB Priv rebooted without warning

The hub has also since crashed completely: it fails to load new incoming emails and doesn't delete messages!

BB should read these forums as they can learn a lot from the big number of posts here with issues so they can address them in updates or even hw revisions if they order small numbers from the factory as I read in another post
people may not bother with contacting BB direct or may just return it to avoid hassle

It is not expected from a flagship phone.

With lower price range than Priv??? BlackBerry might forget that it is their last chance to stay in the market .

    You can't be serious.

If they thought selling a phone at $900 CAD was hard, they won't be able to sell them at all if its more than that.

Stop arguing over naval vessels and focus on the reality that BlackBerry has been unable to captivate the BlackBerry loyalists with BlackBerry OS 10.

You must be kidding rebooted once and went back to the torch. My Torch that's still working today crashed and went on boot loop every 2 moth when updating an App. Needed to reset it with BBDM every time to make it work. Imposible it never happened to OP friend before.

I can only comment on what she told me. I assume after the reboot wipe she took it back as faulty. Not sure if it was replaced yet. I will ask though. She got the Priv on Saturday November 7. It rebooted and wiped (and was reportedly very hot and was running a game when it wiped) on Nov 9.

Second hand info obviously. I have never seen or inspected the phone myself.

Also, to be clear, I was not posting this as a "sky is falling / the Priv sucks" statement. Honestly curious if anyone else had experienced the reboot and wipe behaviour. One other user here reported the same thing and that is what I was curious about.

People use this excuse all the time. My car is new, there will be alot of mechanical problems. Unacceptable for a expensive flagship phone. A new Walmart Windows Phone has less problems.

I would suspect the heat is causing the cracks. MY Z30 has the same back cover material. Z30 runs cool...cool as the other side of the pillow.

I have to wonder what people are doing with their devices. I have the same PRIV as everybody else, but it doesn't get hot, reboot, or wipe itself (like, after a sh!t?), it just works for me.
