Well (for all y'all special snowflakes that like using other currencies) HKD 4000 is my bottom line. I'll wait a couple months after launch and buy a grey market unit for close to HKD 3000. If the launch higher I'll simply wait longer. BUT if they go full ****** and price it insultingly high I will ditch the brand for ever. Jolla or WP.

Unlikely, more like $4500 at least.

I don't think I'm going to buy the Priv... I wouldn't pay more than an equivalent of USD 200 for it. Where I come from all phones are unlocked so it is definitely more expensive than the US.

For USD 200, you can probably get a flip phone!

The Priv over around $550 price point will not sell a single piece... below that it will sell dozens given the paltry 32gb necessitating purchase of an SD card costing $50-150+ depending on the capacity chosen... it's gonna sit in the warehouse...

Keep in mind it's not a direct comparison.

E.g., iPhone 6+ 64 GB was $850 USD at launch in the U.S. In the Czech Republic it was about 24K CZK.

So, if it's going to be 22K CZK, that will likely be below $800 USD.

Thanks I was going to ask how many times do Czech prices directly translate to the same price in the US or Canada

Except the Priv is not entry level. This is what an entry level Android looks like: Motorola

Snapdragon 410, not 808. You could say current-gen flagship so midrange by the time it comes out.

In the Android world entry level means you get specs worse than the Q5.
Agree, the Priv or most of BB's devices for that matter are not entry level. Build quality and OS are considerably better than most, if not all, other manufacturers. In spite of that, I believe it will have to be pretty much a free phone to capture any meaningful market share. If they can't / won't capture the market right off the bat, I think BlackBerry as a device manufacture is toast.

Not only that, I greatly dislike the Android OS, so I doubt if I'd get one regardless of the price.

Well bro with 200 you can get some yayo and some "talent" but that would be gone pretty fast. Or you can go to the equivalent of Walmart and you can get plenty of groceries for a month or so. You also make yourself a phone with pencils over cardboard which may last you quite a bit and you'll save a lot. Specially if it's a blackberry cause you'll only need black pencil so it's cheaper than say a painted iPhone. Just paint a new one when it get worn. No contract.

I attempted to run a poll on this site to see what the max price range people might pay. It was blocked by one of the moderators but it suggested that "most" people would go 525-600. Median about 540 usd . I suspect it might have now crept up since then. I am expecting to pay about 1000 CAN$ tax in. This equates to about 640 usd before tax.

I seriously doubt that Blackberry would seek a $900.00 US price tag for the Priv considering the iPhone 6s 64 is 749.00 and the Note 5 32 is 699.99 and so on. I think the device will come in between $549 and $649 US, same as the passport was when it was released, but who really knows for sure, it's all speculation up to this point.
I agree with you . In Dubai it should cost between USD 700 to 750 . USA prices are always less than the UAE prices .

$900 is steep but remember you're not buying a android phone. You're buying a secure android phone. Something that is not out there. Might make for interesting marketing. Pay to play.

Great. Now things are being narrowed down. We have rumours of it releasing anywhere between Nov 1 and March 31. Cost between $200USD and $1,200USD off contract.

With all the rumours, the official announcement may be a bit of a let down.

I just don't see a 900 dollar price. Now the over priced 750 rumor I COULD see them doing. I would not buy at that price, BUT it's believable. 900 is just crazy! I'm a buyer at 500 or less for sure. 600 I'm a solid maybe, over 600 I'm doubtful.
