Czech mobile tech server Mobilenet.cz just published an article by Vojta Dalekorej, founder of BlackBerryCzech server (the guys that came with the Passport hands-on review long before Passport was launched last year) claiming to confirm the Priv price is gonna be over 22 000 CZK which equals to 900 USD.

Check out the following link to the version translated by Google Translate.

Well, I don't know if it's true. But if it really is more than, let's say 700 as much as I want this device, I won't buy it. If it's 800 even more then I think BlackBerry is absolutely crazy.

I seriously doubt that Blackberry would seek a $900.00 US price tag for the Priv considering the iPhone 6s 64 is 749.00 and the Note 5 32 is 699.99 and so on. I think the device will come in between $549 and $649 US, same as the passport was when it was released, but who really knows for sure, it's all speculation up to this point.

IF it's priced to go at $900 in the US they can kiss those sales goodbye... Anything over $600 is too much for entry level Android device... Highend or not... BlackBerry is not Apple and they are not Samsung... Price gouging consumers only works if there is already an established HUGE fan base for the product... Only dedicated fanboys/fangirls would splurge on that pricing...

Hopefully, for BlackBerry's sake, this is incorrect...

Except the Priv is not entry level. This is what an entry level Android looks like: Motorola

Snapdragon 410, not 808. You could say current-gen flagship so midrange by the time it comes out.

In the Android world entry level means you get specs worse than the Q5.

I don't think I'm going to buy the Priv... I wouldn't pay more than an equivalent of USD 200 for it. Where I come from all phones are unlocked so it is definitely more expensive than the US.

Comparing it to a device already released and many months old... By time the Priv drops it will already be behind some of the top Androids out there... It's BlackBerry's entry into the Android platform, they have a LOT to prove... Pricing at that level won't woo the masses.... Putting it at $600 already puts them in a bracket close to Samsung, putting it at $900 places it up there above almost every other top selling phone on the market... Again, BlackBerry is NOT Apple or Samsung... and these are the people BlackBerry is hoping to win over... I thought winning over the masses and selling devices was BlackBerry's main goal... Putting it at $900 does not encourage sales and greatly limits their chances at doing just that...

I'm not defending the $900 price, that is indeed idiotic. Somewhere along the lines of the Moto X Style/Pure would be right in the ballpark. $500-600 is fine, if it is indeed 64GB.

Agreed! $500-600 would give BlackBerry a sporting chance... Something I want them to have... $900 is indeed 'idiotic'. (Perfectly relevant word to use!)

BlackBerry in Czech republic is about 25% more expensive than in USA. So $900 price tag in Czech would be equivalent to $720 in USA.

$900 that's a lot of money, then I would consider the LG v10 that has better specs but no physical keyboard for $600-$680.
Great camera 16 MP laser autofocus and front 5 MP duo, you can change the battery, MIL-STD-810 resistance rating, 'two' displays 5,7inch and 2,1inch (and no curved screen that is not practical but just for the show and form follows function especially with BlackBerry) ,4 GB ram memory ,64 GB internal ,HI-FI DAC sound ,fingerprint sensor and so on.

If you deduct 20% Czech VAT we are getting to 740 USD, so I am guessing that USA price will be (as usually) lower, so my bet is USD 699.
Note: Vojta has excellent track record on his site and on Crackberry too.

Samsung just now reporting profits for the first time since 2009 (I think). Suspect BB will want a piece of that so given the fact that the PRIV is equivalent or better than their flagship, I'm inclined to up my previous guestimate of 549 USD

LG G4 is the closest device spec-wise to the Blackberry Priv currently available and it just dropped to $599 CAD (original price $650 CAD launched late June). Their marketing was on point too. LG already announced the V10 and that's almost certain to drop the price of the G4 a little further once it releases in Canada. I don't think Blackberry would dare price the device near the Galaxy S6E+ purely based on a curved screen. The boogeyman, a keyboard and a relatively unknown Hub coupled with Blackberry's barely existent marketing plan isn't going to fare well. And Blackberry knows this, I'm sure. General pop is not going to drop $900 USD on a very uncool brand's first attempt at Android. The initial rumor of the device being priced at $750 CAD sounds more strategic to me. I don't think we have to worry too much...

I can get 3 Z30's for that price and sell two of em and make a profit. Naaaah. And besides, it's an Android. I use Android devices for toilet paper when I'm all out even if this device has BlackBerry written over it.

If it's more than $699 US, BlackBerry might as well shut down the hardware division considering how tarnished the brand is already. BlackBerry cannot charge premium prices any more for their devices like the old days.

To BB or not to BBBBBB...?

People are comparing prices across multiple markets. It would be helpful if you're posting a price for a particular country if you could also post the prices in that country for iPhone 6S or some other phone. That way we can know more about how BB will be pricing this relative to these other devices.

Well (for all y'all special snowflakes that like using other currencies) HKD 4000 is my bottom line. I'll wait a couple months after launch and buy a grey market unit for close to HKD 3000. If the launch higher I'll simply wait longer. BUT if they go full ****** and price it insultingly high I will ditch the brand for ever. Jolla or WP.
