Just saw it. That's bloody expensive for a phone that we don't even know if it will work on such platform. Still really sexy though

if this translates to 900 USD i'll keep my S6 with its awesome camera or buy a lumia 950 for 550 us and be happy BB that price is to high you need to price between 550 to 700 and i say 650 is not a bad price

also wonder if there will be a white version and i also want more details about the camera setup and more.

As it has been pointed out a few times, that price includes VAT.

S6 Edge launched at 599 GBP back then, carriers in the US launched it at $699-$814.99 USD, and $849 in Canada.

Almost 1K in Canada. That hurts. Only iPhone users deserve that price.

Actually, no they don't but they are priced like that because people pay

That note aside, you cannot extrapolate NA prices based on UK prices, or any of the EMEA prices. They just don't correlate. For starters, this will have 20% UK VAT. This means that right off the bat the price will be 20% lower if you did a direct conversion. With that said, you can gauge the price in USD by converting the UK price to USD 1:1, then adding about $100 USD on top of that. This means that you can expect this phone to come in at around $700 USD. For Canada multiply by another 1.2 to 1.3, so anywhere between $850 and $900 CAD.

In other words, it will be priced roughly the same as the other top-end Android phones.

850 CAD plus Taxes (ON) = 952 CAD
    Not including:

    Shipping
    Unlock Fee
    Cases
    Screen Protector

Z30 was way cheaper when it came out, and I bought expensive cases for it and it came nowhere near 1K (952CAD)

VAT is UK's 20% tax in prices.

Pretty much the price you see is what you pay. No need to add taxes like in NA.

Value-add Tax. Think Sales Tax in North America terms.

463 GBP would be the price without the 20% tax. That still converts to $925 Canadian pre tax. That's $1045 after the 13%HST.

Might as well buy an iPhone, that's what this price feels like.

If the pricing is accurate it's truly a misstep. I would have understood $700-$750 since that's their usual, but this is really expensive.

Does anyone know exactly what the pre registration does? does this guarantee me a device from blackberry on launch?

Nope. Not a guarantee. Just a means of being updated from BlackBerry.

Can't remember the last time I signed up for one of these updates, but I'm pretty sure I got the official email about a week after the phone was actually for sale.

Ah, the eternal argument. You should not include taxes into the price. Cost of a 128GB iPhone 6s Plus is ~$1,450 CAD taxes in. Cost of a Priv with a 128GB SD card will on the outside be $1,000 taxes in. $450 is not a small difference, and no, you are not getting more than the Priv because you're no longer comparing BlackBerry 10 with no ecosystem to iPhone with App Store. Now the comparison is Google Play vs. App Store, all other things equal. You're paying 30% less and getting a more capable device than the iPhone. This is coming from an iPhone 6s Plus user (yes, I paid full retail for my 64GB 6s Plus).

I'm not sure why people are balking at a higher price.

A month-to-month Galaxy S6 Edge with 32 GB from Rogers (CDN) is $949.99 before taxes (pretty sure locked to carrier). iPhone 6S Plus 16 GB is $1,029 CDN bought outright and unlocked from Apple.

Having the Priv price out at $1K seems high since people might be used to the fairly low pricing of recent devices; however, it is logical, say if it's bought outright from shopblackberry unlocked and you compare it to a S6 Edge or an iPhone 6S Plus. Back in the day, a 9900 was priced up to $600 CDN locked to a carrier but on a monthly or non-contract basis.
