While we can't idly run software release lookups for the Priv like the old days, we can compile a list of build numbers and get a sense of how, when and where things get updated. Maybe even grab the OTA update URLs when they come, if some carriers are lagging behind the rest of the world.

If you want to find out which build number you're on:
Settings > About phone > Build number

Sources for these include your phone, certification agencies (PTCRB, FCC, etc), BlackBerry's kernel repo, etc.

I wonder how much BlackBerry will be able to update via Google Play? Clearly everything they have already added to Google Play (as most of that gets updated right off the bat).

Have to hope that Google, BlackBerry and Carriers will all work towards this once a month update cycles for patches.

Don't even try. The OS and the apps are now separate and it will make your head spin to try and match everything.

    I know that.

OS builds can't just be pushed out through Google Play, though. Some stuff just needs an OTA update.

    It seems too early.

    Probably another incremental Lollipop upgrade.

Do you mean with BlackBerry Android (Marshmallow)? If so that will be at least 3 months from now, probably six months given their track record.

Most likely the MR1 that Clewly has referred to one a couple of occasions

My guess is that we think about the system like this.

    With BB10 it was 10.x.x.x

Android is probably the same. Each letter corresponds to the first three numbers while the number is just the build number so like this: a.a.d.028.

Therefore the change in the third letter from c to d is a minor maintenance release.

The change from Lollipop to Marshmallow will probably be aba#### or something like that.

In essence, they've started work on the MR, then. And since the PTCRB has it, it's much closer to release as opposed to whatever the Android equivalent of a software release lookup is.

Hope it drops quickly and to everyone.

    Priv's first maintenance release today.

Given the certifications, guessing it's AAD027.

    Edit: Yes, yes it is.
