I have some frustrations with some of the blackberry software and I hope it improves, however this is not just an android phone, at a minimum it is an android phone with a physical keyboard.

    Excellent!

That's exactly what I wanted. An Android powered device with a BlackBerry PKB and a better camera than my current smartphone. Check, check and check!

Trust me, coming from a guy that tried Android last year on a Note4 for 4 months then went back to BlackBerry this is MUCH better than "regular" Android. This phone has just enough of the BlackBerry things I was missing to make me happy, sure it's not like my Z30 but that's OK. Heck I see people posting about still owning Z10's and I think they are crazy as I had one but then went to Z30 and it made me wonder why they even made the Z10.

I'm convinced that some people just need to vent and get it out of their system. As if complaining will somehow make the Priv go away and make Blackberry stick with BB10. Nothing will change the fact that BB10 doesn't have developer support or that it has 1% market share. Android is Blackberry's only option. It'll be nice when people get used to that idea, but seems like it will take a while.

Umm that's what it is suppose to be. It is suppose to be a Android phone. Blackberry is just the hardware with a sprinkle of things like the hub and DTEK.

If you wanted an BB10 device don't buy the Priv.

Personally I love this as I have been using a Note 4 for a year after my Z10 took a dive and they didn't release an new BB10 (ehh Passport) on VZW. So I am accustom to the android software.

All I really missed from by Blackberry was quality of hardware, keyboard, Hub, and the security; all which I will get now on the Priv when Verizon releases it.

I have stopped by ATT and fooled around with it and I can say it is exactly what I lve been wanting.

I just came from the ATT store and played with the Priv for about 30 mins or so, trying to do any tests I could think of.

Pros: - All that is obvious..looks, feel, cosmetic stuff

    - The screen is clean, bright, rich colors. Notifications and peek gestures look cool. But..is glitchy(see below)

    - Camera was good, video was better

Cons: - The software was super buggy! The screen kept flickering and hopping in and out of certain screens. The time at the top of the screen kept glitching and flickering.

    - Slider doesn't close easily. The slider opens easy enough, but closing it requires a bit of a push from the top of the curved screen.

    - I had to really search for the Blackberry software in this phone. When first turning on the device there is no hint of BB..u have to swipe to see the only 2 obvious apps(BBM and DTek). Which the BBM is pointless since it's not a full version(no BBM Video). No hint of the hub until you set it up, and I had to search for that setup! Bottom line, if you have never used android for a consistent 6 months or more, you will be lost on this phone. If you are familiar with Android, you will be right at home.

    - Keyboard..While the touch keyboard is cool, the keys themselves are not as nice as the Classic. The actual keys don't sit up as nice as the classic they are more flat and kind of harder to push or find different buttons .

    - the somewhat glass-back.. definitely wish the back had more of the textured rubber feel.

    - plastic speaker grille..never was a fan. Makes the sound awesome, but wish the construction could have been some kind of metal(for protection and/or style).

IMHO: it's a cool phone, and a cool twist on a already used concept (6SEdge)! But...with all that it has, it's missing quite a bit. So it's not worth the price tag! So if you can wait for the price to drop to about $450-550, then do that. But if you really had patience, then I'd wait for the next release or next version of this phone. The next version might be worth $700 before tax..but not this one!

Created by fingering my sexy Blackberry Classic Keyboard..but I think the  Priv wants me to touch her too!

I don't have one yet, but it looks like they put a slight touch on it. As long as it has BlackBerry hardware, I'm good.

So what do you suggest people buy until the price drops or until the Priv 2 comes out? I'll buy whatever you recommend as long as it's an Android device that has a physical keyboard, expandable storage and has a Snapdragon 808 processor. I don't even care if it costs more than the Priv...

Nice cut and paste. But obviously the device was a lemon and not performing as intended. I have had zero issues with mine.
Every second I like it more and more. So a day to get used to it. I now have the Grove to navigate Android and hub.
I really like the swipe right or left if you choose from any screen to get hub, calendar email , contacts etc.

Does it have the word "BlackBerry" on the phone's body? Y/N
Does it have the BlackBerry logo on the phone's body? Y/N

If the answer to both questions is "YES" then it's a BlackBerry.
If the answer to either or both questions is "NO" then you're probably correct, "it's no blackberry" and you bought a counterfeit.

For me, it is not a blackberry until they properly implement the Hub. Doesn't matter what is written on it, to some degree I don't even care what O/S it is running, what matters is how it lets me function/manage my communications.

I had a 6s edge for a few months and hated started to hate the sloppiness of Android. The priv is not sloppy at all the hub really fixed a lot of my problems as well as both the BlackBerry keyboards. I'm in this now and not sure if I would go back to bb10 as long as a device like this is made!
