I’ve been getting conflicting information online about a new version of the Priv that has either been launched in September or is due out (in India) in December. My old one is on it’s last legs and although I have a new boxed one in stock it’s still running on old software which has gradually been losing me apps such as Uber.

Does anyone have any authoritative information on a new/ recent launch?

BlackBerry left the handset business back in 2017, so it's not them.

Must be some local vendor launching something... as haven't seen anything about a device like that here. But it wouldn't be a BlackBerry PRIV 2, just a generic slider.

You can find a bunch of fan-made videos on YouTube. Some made just in the last few months touting a release "this year".

I think most know a random Youtuber isn't going to have the scope...

I haven't looked in a while, but there were a lot back when there was some hope in OnwardMobility doing something. But that dream is long dead. Might get some life if this Veritas Capital group buys the company and starter selling off pieces that they don't want. There isn't a smartphone division to sell off, but they might sell off the name as it likly has more baggage in enterprise than it's worth. That could allow the hope to grow and rumors to start. But in the end I don't think there is a viable consolidated market for "A" PKB phone and a costly slider would be a more risky option.
