The latest Bolds are something like 60 mm wide. The Z10 has 66 mm. So where is the problem with the keyboard? If you put a curved display (= no bezels) in a Z10 sized device, that would be awesome.

I think most people that have used it would agree that due to the slider form factor, the Priv keyboard is about as compact as it can get. This establishes the width of the device. The only other option would be to put a 1:1 screen on it instead of a 16:9 screen, but that may not be appropriate for a slider-type device.

Ok, I'm not that much into the technical details. Sure, the device must have a minimum size to get all the components in it.
But what I wanted to say is, there are lots of people who don't want a small tablet in their pockets. I really hope BlackBerry will brings out a smaller device soon.

A slider based on the Classic (full Classic PKB and tool belt) with a 4:3 screen would have a 4.15 inch screen. Why is 1:1 the only option ? The 9900 did not have a 1:1 screen .
I get that. It's just that Android has been developed around 16:9. Scaling is not always that effective, and/or leads to unexpected results.
If scaling is in the cards, I do see a potential full keyboard device like a Bold, but a slider with a less-than 16:9 screen might seem odd when the keyboard is closed.

Tablets are 4:3.
Some, yes.
I've just never seen a 4:3 all-touch phone before (which is what it would be when the keyboard is closed). Just think it would be weird, and it wouldn't leave much screen space when the vkb is active.

I agree!! Don't get me wrong, loving the Priv - learning as I go - but in a perfect world for me, and as a former Q10 owner, a Priv that is just 3/4" shorter from the top (width is fine) would be soooo ideal for me. I like to have my pants pockets mostly available for keys and such. Lol
However, until then, I'm enjoying the Priv thoroughly and hope its hugely successful so that a shorter variant is created. Again, in my own little ideal world:)
Well most are but I see your point. I think a 4:3 screen would be ideal for fixed PKB's. The Passport with a 4 row KB with a narrower taller screen would have been better...but that was not the topic.
