one aspect i like on android, a big one, is to flash custom os... mostly yo keep it running new android versions that the manufacturer doesnt support. or you end up after a year or two, in same boat as outdated phones, old android versions with fewer and fewer apps...

but if priv is about security... how would they allow custom os, or even if so, how would custom os guaranty security as well as blackberry?

i havent seen anyone bring this up yet, but if dup, just merge/delete

just wondering if bb drops priv and stops updating... dont want to be stuck with old os if hardware is still good...
i dont mind bb10 or windows mobile being old,dropped... but if i pick android, it is because i want the newest os to play with...

I would imagine a custom OS will not be possible, but, as the device hasn't been released yet, who knows.

As for support - well I have 10.3.2 on my Z10, so they've got a good track record.

Custom os is also open door for spyware.
I understand your concern, but think that lot of people don't have the same.

I like to add launcher on my androids to have always the same one, but don't find any good argue for custom os for my use.

Unless BlackBerry gives the option to sign the os you want with their keys your SOL.

Would anyone know if Priv will be upgraded to Marshmallow 6.0? It's running 5.1.1 and the device is already outdated from launch.

Likely, BlackBerry has had MM for weeks.

I believe Marshmallow will come soon. They couldn't take the chance and launch with something so new and potentially unstable (remember the L launch).

OS installation will be similar to BB10. Hardware will fully authenticate anything you install on the device. BlackBerry signing keys are required.
