Ok. Pending launch(unverified) in November. So, when will the US get it and will it go to all carriers? Also, if that launch date were true, when TH are we going to see some commercials? I know what has been said or rumored, but, none of it matters if you can't buy it until some time next year. Also, just noticed a Google commercial for Nexus 6 last night. IMO, It would really be nice to see some excitement for the Slider.....other than on CrackBerry and other forums - especially if the goal is 5 million units. I've talked to a few old BlackBerry Addicts and they're going to wait-n-see.
Not necessarily. I had a fairly candid discussion with my Verizon rep once, and he said that he read all the sites and knew the rumors but couldn't say anything that wasn't official.
He told me it was worst with the iPhone. He knew like everybody else when a new model would be announced, but had to play dumb until the actual announcement.
Haha!

They still have to announce the date for the launch event, so I wouldn't expect any advertising (if any) before then. Also, previous rumors reported that the Priv would be released on all four major carriers in November, with most expecting first or second week.

I see people talking a lot about Continum and using the phone connected to a monitor. My question is, other than Microsoft office, what do you want to do in a big monitor? The phone run's ARM apps only, you can't install any desktop app on it, so I feel it's a bit useless.
I have a surface 2, that is basicly a mobile windows in a desktop format... and I can't do much in the desktop mode, because I can only use windows apps, and windows apps are a bit useless in desktop mode
Nov 4th, woohoo! Let's start the countdown!
Hey hey thanks a lot! :)
Look! It's Zedzilla30!
I have received two emails in the last two days about being the first in line to buy the Priv, so we must be getting close to the official launch day, I already have the funds for two of them set aside.
But has it got the Google?!?!

Almost word for word, my exact same thoughts.
From what i've seen in few blogs and from what JC said, it looks like the launch will happen in November for both Canada and the US on all major carriers ( i don't see why they would have separate launch dates).
As far as commercial goes, yes, BB need to market the hell out of this thing and price right. they need to make commercials on TV, radio, everywhere...and give good reasons for sales reps at the different carriers to push the Priv to customers. If BB markets this phone well, it will be a success.
The hard case shell looks so odd when on the device closed. Not sure why they have a gaping hold on the speaker.

How much did you set aside? $2,000? $1,500? $200? Hahaha

I'm not sure they have money to advertise, which may be why there's a delay - they're working with carriers to get them to fund advertising.
where are you getting these emails from exactly?
Which was one of the points of my last post. I've heard all the rumors as I stated before, but, the 3 Billion we've heard about for awhile now isn't going to be spent or not much of it. I mentioned seeing the Google commercial for the upcoming Nexus. BlackBerry really should have thought ahead with Android as far as helping with a better marketing budget- if possible. Like other products that want to "continue" selling, get the word out prior to launch, pre- orders should go up- if it is true with everyone wanting the Slider. The problem there is, BlackBerry wants this device to sell really well or at least that is what we're reading from Chen: This phone has to be a success or it's the end game for the BlackBerry smartphones. I was expecting to see more. My reasoning is, 1) carriers are just now coming around to even mention BlackBerry - because of Android. 2) John Q. Public still doesn't give a damn about BlackBerry- excluding those of us that have utilized the devices whether for 6 months or over well over 10 years.
True. really not expecting any advertisement until after the launch. However, my biggest concern is just how committed is Chen for this to be a success? We already know what his Plan B is and it doesn't include us. Like I said earlier, I would really love to see a buzz start with the public before the launch. Especially with the competition that the Slider is up against. Just curious if we're going to see a delay in the OS. Anyway, before someone gets uptight, I still want BlackBerry to sell a lot of devices. Unfortunately, the public hasn't been waiting for the next BlackBerry to switch platforms. Otherwise, they would have already left and returned with the last round of BlackBerries. I keep visualizing "smoky" mirrors with Chen. ((Shrugs)) Maybe it's just me.
