Well idk if it does but I was hoping it has some similar or better functionality especially if the screen is off I would like the notifications to pop up in white white for a few seconds at least with time date battery percentage would be cool.
only for samsung S6 and S6 Edge. the normal s6 and note 5 i dont think they have this feature.. its called Edge screen

Well obviously, but what I meant was software wise was it like Samsung slapped an APK on it, or Android Lollipop itself has some built-in API to support it.

Maybe it offers the Peak functionality we know from BlackBerry 10? Just showcasing notifications?
When the slider with curved screen was first shown off, I assumed that was exactly how BlackBerry would implement the bb10 notifications. But now that we know it is android....

They still can do it, you know that?
- Slide from the edge partially out, show the icons and unread count
- Slide from the edge fully out, "mini-hub" that shows the most recent notifications or launch BlackBerry Hub

Here is another good explanation of the edge features. I agree that BB will probably incorporate the edge for thr hub and the peel feature on lock. Should be interesting.

is a native thing to Samsung android os its part of touch whiz UX lollipop does not have native features to take advantage of edge screens

me too but i was also thinking since the screen is amoled that they would do like bb 10 and have the notifications on the left hand side of screen so it would light up with the time, date, battery level and signal strength as well as notifications on the left in while while the rest of the screen if off kind of like what Motorola did with active display and Lumia does with glance screen. but soon we will see what it does im really excited now lol
