I've been on BlackBerrys for so long that I'm just used to moving my data from device to device without losing anything. I'm hoping that BlackBerry is creating a comprehensive tool to find a home for our data that resides in a backup file. For starters, I would hope that they provide a way to transfer SMS/MMS data from a BB10 backup to the Priv. They also need to be able to port Contacts data, because there are people who still use local data (perhaps synched with Outlook) as opposed to cloud-based contacts. And the migration tool should link the contacts with the messages.

There is a Calendar app which appears to be available on the Priv. I hope that Calendar data will be ported as well. I have seen nothing so far with regard to an Android version of the Remember app. I choose to keep my notes and tasks local so I don't use Evernote. I have lots of data currently in the Remember app. The tasks link nicely to the Calendar app and I'd hate to either lose or have to re-type my many many Remember entries. So I'm hoping the data migration would also allow for the porting and relinking of this data as well.

And, it would be nice to be able to have an Android version of the Password Keeper which I rely heavily on. I know that I can backup and restore from within the Password Keeper app, but it would be nice to have an app on Android into which this data can be imported, used, and trusted.

Since BlackBerry is making an Android powered device, I think it would be nice to provide a way for existing BB10 users (and perhaps BBOS users as well) to get their data into the Priv so that it can be used.

One important question is. Do we need to have the previous device? or a backup on the computer will be enought?

This was the image that sparked my concern about what exactly will be able to be ported. This was one of a series of renders posted a while back. This says that the Content Transfer app will port data to the Priv whether you're on an existing iOS, Android, or BlackBerry device. I'm hoping that the BlackBerry one will be more granular than the others and that there will be a corresponding Notes/Tasks app into which Remember data can be ported.

Carriers have tools to port data when switching devices. But generally, these tools include only contacts. Media (photos, videos, and music) can generally be ported as well.

The link doesn't open. The good news is the the App Ultimate Backup (which I downloaded long ago, but never actually tried) does a nice job with Remember data!

Pretty much all the data I'd want ported over looks like it will be handled!

I was able to transfer everything from my Z30 over to my Nexus 5 "easily enough" so I'm not worried about transfering to the PRIV.
The only thing that I can't pry out of my Z30 are the bookmarks in the BB10 browser.

I don't really need them, but OCD. I wonder if this tool can extract the bookmarks.
