- My PRIV had the same issue, it is not software related, the power button was causing the issues. The slider mechanism is too close too the underside of the power button and causes grime built up in the slider, to then be built up under the power button. I pulled the side of the phone near the power button away from the body, cleaned off the underside of the power button, and it started up just fine. I cleaned off the entire slider rail and have had no issues since. An easy way to trouble shoot this (after many hours of scratching my head) is to do this if phone is caught in the loop:
-hold only the Volume Up button while phone is cycling. If this takes you to the green android robot with the word "error," then your power button is probably stuck. You are only supposed to get to this by pressing both the power button and the Volume Up button, but if you only press the Volume Up Button, then the power button is stuck.
-hold only the Volume Down button while phone is cycling. If this takes you to the boot menu, then your power button is probably stuck. You are only supposed to get to this by pressing both the power button and the Volume Down button, but if you only press the Volume Down button, then the power button is stuck.
When I realized my phone did these things, it dawned on me it was a stuck power button. Once I cleaned it off, no issues. The slider mechanism being too close tot he power button internals is a design flaw.03-23-19 09:45 PMLike 0 -
So frustrating. Typical internet thread. No pics, no explanation, cult speak, dozens of useless and confusing posts to sift through...after sifting through other threads. Everybody assumes it's easy to understand while there's probably thousands of people like me who are just thinking "F-uhC man, why can't there just be an easy to read, easy to understand, solution / resource for this with pics/diagram/video? Why do I have to sign up for a forum that I never wanted to be a part of, never wanted to give my email, never wanted to have to delete my account a couple hours later, just to get a simple f-uhcing answer to a problem that should have been documented, officially, by the company who made the phone, years ago, in both print and video format?" Right? People say / think that all the time, and just like me, they usually just say F it and don't bother joining the forum. Because they're not reading the forum to join in and have a conversation and make friends... they want an answer / solution! And finally one guy, me, decided "well I guess I gotta be the guy to join and ask." You're welcome to those thousands who have searched to an explanation to this and have given up in frustration. And that's just me assuming someone will respond to this and I'll get an answer. It's just embarrassing that 3 years later there's no video / pic anywhere on the internet on how exactly to do this. I'm surprised and admittedly feel a bit stupid not understanding what exactly to do. The way some of you reacted... like it was just self evident how to clean it. lol, like huh? I can barely get a millimeter of separation before i feels like I'm about to break it.
And this isn't exclusive to phones. Don't even get me started and cars and SCAMechanics. INTERNET FORUMS SUCK!!!!!! THEY'RE NOT NEEDED. But here I am, lol. You can say it a million different ways, but the problem is as old as time: Evil. Greed. Why would you make an easy to use instruction manual on how to fix any known problem a Priv or Passat could have. Nah, ****'m. Let them get frustrated and buy a new Car / Phone / ETC. At best a small percentage can scour the internet forums for some half baked info.
I've been bottling up that rant for years lol. Good to get it out. Thanks. I'll be copy / pasting that with some adjustments to all the other stupid forums I'm going to join.
Final thought after calming down a bit. It's an opportunity. I've identified what would be called the problem. A wise saying I like is that there are no problems. There are only situations, challenges and opportunities. So the opportunity is someone is going to bridge this gap and provide people what they want. People already want this. There is a demand in the market. And it's really the best time for it. Today, there's more information than ever, especially on the internet in forums and video. The situation/challenge/opportunity is organizing it and presenting in a way where it's easy to find, understand and use. *Instruction / Repair Guides "They" Don't Want You to Know About*

09-03-22 10:03 AMLike 0 - What does this mean? I can't find any pic or video showing this. Do you mean like slightly prying the underside and screen side away from each other a bit. Because when I do this, is feels tight like if I do it any more, it's going to break.... at that point I certainly can't fit a cotton swab in there. Or am I being to cautious? Am I misunderstanding? I'm trying to pry on it when the keyboard is in the down/open position. Yes, No? Pics / video please
