POLL: BlackBerry Priv or Lumia 950XL

Such an uneven poll since BlackBerry Priv generated such a hype. LOL. 91% vs 9%.

And the writer's leaning heavily to BlackBerry Priv doesn't help Lumia 950XL at all.

Well I mainly want the Priv for the physical keyboard but the lumia 950 does look pretty tempting.

I love my Blackberries... but...I don't think I am going for the Priv. I like the 950XL as I checked out the one at a local MS store. So, I pre-ordered the 950XL and am looking forwards to it. The last Blackberry I really liked was the OS7 version especially the BB9900 and BB9810. These legacy devices do not have LTE and the spectrum is all being switched to LTE. The newer BB10 (I have the q10,Z10,Z30,Classic) and I am disappointed in them. I have a Lumia 830 and really like it so the 950XL is gonna be a real upgrade for me for an MS phone. I still have the legacy BB on my TMO plan but I can read the writing on the wall.

Priv is not in the same class as the 950XL. It's closer to the 950.

Absolutely correct. The Passport won several of these "contests", but sales were low

If I really had to choose I would consider MS phone...but still I wonder what will that experience be like considering the juice of the berries is all I've ever known in the mobile world.

Honestly I am leaning towards the 950xl. I am already running Windows 10 on my desktop and windows 10 preview on my lumia 1320. The 950 xl has a removable battery and SD card slot and with a $99 dock can run full windows 10 on any TV or monitor.

"full Windows 10" that only runs Universal apps.

I really hope they change that, considering Crossover is coming up with WINE for Android for Atom based devices.

You will only be able to run apps from the app store. The phone only runs ARM coded apps, desktop runs x86 coded software, you can't crops between platforms (you can with an emulator but performance is abysmal)

It was the problem with the original surface 1 and 2 non-pro models. They ran ARM arquitecture, but you could only install apps from the windows apps store (wich isn't very good)

All I need is one drive and office , mix in a Web browser and it's a pretty powerful tool. You can also attach USB sticks to the dock

I'll keep my Z10 for another 6-12 months at least and watch how things play out. Now that I've bought a couple of used Z10s for family members, I'm never buying a new, full-priced phone again, anyway. It's a huge waste of money.

    That's what I said that.

What I meant was for them to come up with a flagship model that uses Atom, then Continuum can run x86 code, i.e. desktop apps.

Not that they will, though. They're trying to push everyone to go Universal.

Who are saying that in those 57% (950XL) is full of blackberry users who want to jump ship?
Just how many userbase they are in the first place?

I can understand the dislike of Android but why not iOS?

I have a buddy who will not have any Apple products in his house. He went so far as to pay $250 for a clunky Mp3 player. He will only buy a Samsung Android. Most everyone else I know are all in Apple products.

I guess most people are Microsoft or Apple for their computers. I switched over to Apple about 2009 and would not go back to Microsoft now.

I really enjoy BB10 but the time has come to move on. I will consider the PRIV vs an iOS phone.

Not ever buying into another ecosystem with an app shortage issue.

Priv or an Android phone for me going forward if I decide to switch out of BB10. At least BB10 does run most Android apps I need.

I wasn't referring to the poll, just the general CrackBerry members considering the switch due to issues with Android as a result of Google.
