Would really love to have this scenario happen. This way only serious people make the purchase and post well informed reviews with zero biases. And if it sells for a decent number of units given that pricing, blackberry's profit margins stop the bleeding completely. Also having that pricing creates a certain type of mystique. Something to the level of 'why is this device so pricey? I definitely need to get my hands on it'. A win/win for everyone in my opinion.

A win only for companies like xiaomi and huawei. they will first laugh at BlackBerry and then copy the damn design and make millions off it.

If anyone is within close proximity to the OP, please slap him in the face. Not trying to be mean but you really need to come back to reality.
If I'm going to pay that much for a device, it better not only slide out a keyboard but also slide out a 50" screen.

That won't be in favour of BB.
    The ship is sinking!
A BlackBerry device in the hardware quality of Bold is expensive. Even Mr. Chen said that it can't be done!
So they are trying a last plan. An Android device coming from BlackBerry...
It is like htc, Samsung, any other name, any other noname running Android.
The Specs are flagship specs! That's what is going to cost...

If this product fails, BlackBerry drowns.

    Let's pray for the company!
    Let's buy the slider ;-)

(although in my deepest, I want it run BlackBerry 10, I'll buy it!)

Yes, just look at what the Porsche designed BB's have done for sales.

No one would buy it at that price, and that includes most of the diehards in here.

Everything can be copied. Specially when you subcontract the manufacturing somewhere in China.

There u have it! Blackphone priced at $800 excluding tax and it has no keyboard or proven history in security.

Priv could be priiced around this point...i'm sure their market research team have done their DD.

OP must be pulling everybody's legs. It's an entry phone into the Android market and BlackBerry should be solely focused on wining some of the market share while maintaining a decent profit margin (if possible).

Well if BlackBerry slaps a Porsche logo on every Priv and produce it in limited batches then yeah otherwise BlackBerry might as well burn down their HQ and put up a white flag.

To BB or not to BBBBBB...?

I'm a little surprised by all these responses. I thought you guys were true crackberry users. You are all talking like the general population so this is extremely disappointing. If John Chen can't rely on us to buy at this price point then surely BlackBerry is doomed to fail?
