I'm a little surprised by all these responses. I thought you guys were true crackberry users. You are all talking like the general population so this is extremely disappointing. If John Chen can't rely on us to buy at this price point then surely BlackBerry is doomed to fail?

"WE"/"Crackberrians"/"loyal fans" are not the targeted population in this action!

The company needs more costomers. The loyal AND some more! With the Android OS running on the device, there would be more costomers attracted to the hardware.

Must mean Bajan dollars. That would probably be cheap compared to what they are still trying to sell the Q5 for down there.

Why not sell them for a million dollars each?

You get responces just from the general population because of miserable price tag $1,500-$2,000. If you suggest $15,000 as starting point, then true BB fans and connoisseurs will notice this post and support your grand strategy of saving BB.

But wait, I think that $15,000 is too low... Need to think it over before to send my memo to Chen.

OP just wants to set the standards high, that way when the real price is revealed, it will sound piddly compared to his pricing lol.

So at a point when the company needs to sell a significant volume of their newest (presumably) flagship device, the suggested strategy is to price it so high 99.5% of the world wouldn't even consider it.

    Good thinking.

Would really love to have this scenario happen. This way only serious people make the purchase and post well informed reviews with zero biases. And if it sells for a decent number of units given that pricing, blackberry's profit margins stop the bleeding completely. Also having that pricing creates a certain type of mystique. Something to the level of 'why is this device so pricey? I definitely need to get my hands on it'. A win/win for everyone in my opinion.

That won't be in favour of BB.
    The ship is sinking!
A BlackBerry device in the hardware quality of Bold is expensive. Even Mr. Chen said that it can't be done!
So they are trying a last plan. An Android device coming from BlackBerry...
It is like htc, Samsung, any other name, any other noname running Android.
The Specs are flagship specs! That's what is going to cost...

If this product fails, BlackBerry drowns.

    Let's pray for the company!
    Let's buy the slider ;-)

(although in my deepest, I want it run BlackBerry 10, I'll buy it!)

We do not exist to provide BBRY with a livelihood. They exist because they ostensibly have a good product to sell, at a marketable price, though that becomes more questionable with each passing day. I'm not beholden to BBRY or any other technology maker. If you, in all seriousness, are presuming such a thing:
