It is now pretty much a daily occurrence, even with just moderate usage, but especially if I am in an app or doing updates. It also happens pretty quickly, within the first few minutes of using the device I can feel the heat building and soon the warning comes.

It wasn't always like this, but it has definitely been getting worse. Any thoughts on what it could be or solutions I could try?

You might look at the Battery module (Main Settings) and see what is using the battery, particularly early in the day.
