Soapm - thanks, but there does not seem to be anything specifically conclusive in that thread.
jens_tahoe - i have had this alert three or maybe four times in the last week. the first occasion i was traveling on an interstate and had the phone tucked under my leg on the car seat. i chalked it up to the phone having a "muffled" signal while it was passing through the network and somehow chose that error instead of "no signal". this morning's error message was after it had spent the night under a pillow, without much weight on it. i mention the weight only because unlike when under my leg, there was no pressure against the screen or back that may have dislodge the SIM (as described in the linked thread). also, the phone was "home", on WiFi, so... anyway, no other drops, compression (no case used), or other substantial physical anything that would be an obvious cause of this.
the thread did have some mentions of an update having stopped the alerts. my phone had several updates recently, so maybe one is goofed a bit. if more users are seeing this, maybe we can "blame" that, and hopefully there will be a fix.
I had this issue come up and it unfortunately never did go away.
The issue progresses to where phone calls will go straight to voicemail or ring only once.
Not sure what percentage it comes out at, but many times it's it's simply a bad SIM
First step is to get a new SIM.
I think the conclusion of the thread is that this is a hardware flaw and those with the problem should probably move on to another device. BB hasn't addressed it with an alternate SIM tray and those who got new SIM's and used tape only found temporary joy.
I concur. I got a new Sim and it still did it.
Dump the phone. Sorry to be so harsh.
There are just too many flaws and I don't feel we need to use tape, other apps, change screen resolution, etc to get the phone to work as intended.
It's 2017. We are not at the infantile stages of smartphones.
I have gotten a similar error message and it said the sim needed to be updated. This has happened 2 times over the last 2 years. I am with T-Mobile and they set me up with a new Sim both times. I think the first time really was a Sim issue because it was an older one. I still get the message occasionally after the 2nd time it was bad and I got it changed, but I tap on my phone and it goes away. It seems to happen when the wi-fi signal is weak.
I also have a KEYᵒⁿᵉ as an alternative device. No problem with it.
I won't deny that the the SIM tray, (and SD) is on the flakey side. But the first step is still a new SIM.
Unless you are looking for an excuse to get a new phone, in which case, go for it.
My wife's phone is doing the same thing, we were camping with limited signal. She has tried to reinstall the card multiple times with no luck. Has anyone been able to solve the problem?
Have you replaced the SIM with a new SIM yet?
get VoIP via SIP softphone (I have Phonepower.com) and it works flawlessly on my Priv via WiFi ...one possibility...
