With recent news released that Blackberry is not conducting an official launch event for the Priv, but is focusing on advertising instead, why do you think the reviews are being delayed? I can see the need to hold reviews till launch day so as not to steal the thunder for an official release party or unveiling, but since that is not happening, why the delay on reviews? Reviews on the phone this week would at least push visibility and pre-orders, and create some buzz for the carriers that are supporting the Priv. Not sure I understand the advantage to keeping things under wraps for a launch that isn't going to be celebrated or presented to anyone - so why not build some buzz and hype by allowing real world reviews of the product the week of the launch?

I agree and assumed we'd see reviews starting Tuesday with launch Friday considering Good acquisition closing announced Monday. Either way, we'll have them soon enough.

Priv will be reviewed by consumers come Friday. I agree that it seems off. There's a point when the reviews are allowed too early, but we are definitely beyond that now.

Just wrote a separate post coming to the same conclusion since there's no launch event and the launch date is the event. Was hoping a few days earlier, but I'll trust ya here. You know more than I would.

It seems most initial reactions to the Priv have been positive, so a review would likely be positive as well. Think of the traffic that could drive to AT&T stores for launch day, instead of everything being in a semi-mystery as it is right now. I'm sure AT&T would appreciate it.

Most phone reviews come out a couple of days before launch, so still plenty of time.
