And if thats the way they will update devices, i am never gonna buy a BlackBerry again..
Since BlackBerry doesn't make devices anymore, there is no danger of that.

Although it's said the PRIV got one major update to Marshmallow, if I am not mistaken, Marshmallow was available to most Androids when the PRIV was released or shortly thereafter, i.e. Oct.
2015. The PRIV was behind when it was released. It should have come with Marshmallow in the first place.

Hardened Marshmallow would not have been ready at launch time. Not even close.

Priv was launched in November. Even the Nexus devices didn't get M until October.

If I were in their shoes, if the Priv is going to get Nougat, I would wait until KEYone gets Oreo before allowing the older model Android BlackBerry 's to advance.

Even if the priv does get nougat, which I have little faith it will, how long do all of you plan on keeping the priv as your primary device? I say a year tops.

Probably 3 years to be honest. Purchased in November last year. Still very happy with it. It's not even a year old.

Yep, just downloaded the September update as well. AAO484 to be exact. Unlike updates from ATT, the ones from BlackBerry load without issue.

Does flashing it mean that Nexus hasn't released Nougat to your phone, but you have rooted the device and installed a custom one?

With nougat or without it I'm planning keep my Priv as long as possible. I have my reason. I like it very much and I don't care about nougat very much.
P.S. it doesn't mean I'm not angry about BlackBerry management how They killed BB10 and how they don't care about customers !!!

No Nexus 5 hammerhead only got the marshmallow update, the 5 x got nougat and now Oreo, see at least one knows when you buy a Google phone it will only receive updates for two years, BUT the beauty is you are able to flash custom ROMS With or without root. I chose to root because of what I do on the devices, but it isn't necessary. A simple unlock of the bootloader and install a recovery and BAM New OS..... But moving on the Nexus 5 just got it's Oreo fix v in a custom rom

Honestly with some of the updates Google made to it's apps physically you wouldn't know the difference between the os' if you know about software and what they did in that respect then you would know. There are very subtle physical differences in them. It's like most devices that get Oreo the users wouldn't even know unless they knew the software
