    Happy New Year

I got my long anticipated Priv yesterday, and I think it's still on Lollipop (?). Shouldn't it auto update to Marshmallow?

Thanks Conite It"s a brand new, factory unlocked, unbranded priv. Came via HK ...

And it's Asia Pac, which is right for me in Aus.

    Edit
I'm on optus in Au, they stock the priv

If it's truly factory-unlocked, try removing the sim, rebooting, and checking for updates over WiFi.

Okay, thanks, will try, though it was only yesterday that I got it, and updated it sim free. Much later I put the sim in ....

    Edit
For what it's worth, it's made in Mexico

The STV100-3 could be either a Canadian carrier branded device, or an unlocked AsiaPac device.

Either way, you can use the ROW autoloader.

Thanks, yeah it looks like I'm going to have to use the auto loader .... I was hoping that it would just work, lol ....

The packaging is regional Singapore, and I'm as confident as I can be that it's new and factory unlocked ...

Try this little trick. Touch and hold the "check for updates" for 10 or twelve seconds. Then let go. An update may appear. There's a thread around here about that. I did it to get the Marshmallow update on my Verizon Priv.

Does that mean that my device won't get the security updates automatically as well? Is there something I can do about this situation?

(Oh my, I was hoping things would 'just work', lol ....)

Hang about .... if it's to do with the IMEI number then do I just need to log it with my provider (optus)? (And to think I was in my local optus store here in Sydney yesterday getting them to help me fit the sim card, lol)

The fact that you didn't get the last patch, would seem to suggest you won't get the next one either.

Blackberry pushes updates to factory-unlocked devices in batches, according to IMEI numbers. I'm at a loss as to how this works exactly, and to whom the responsibility of sorting it out lies. Some just seem to get lost in the confusion.

I've just rung optus and had them assign my imei number to my account, so here's hoping that will action something behind the scenes so that BB knows that the device is now in use (and not still unopened on a shelf somewhere)

Well, my ShopBB Priv came with Lollipop. I did check for updates (no sim at the time) over wifi and MM was available. I did screw up the download/install (I rebooted rather than allowing it to take its sweet, long time). It did not complete. When I checked for Update again, it said I was up-to-date!!! I then had to wait another few hours, reset my time/date and it came down again. This time it worked.

Yes, but I was wondering which build it is.

Once it's done, check Settings > About phone > Build number.
