Actually, that's the same layout as the Z30 on 10.3.1. I really don't see anything unusual about the main app icons - other than getting blown out by the photograph.

This is starting to look like a BlackBerry with S6 specifications ( strong assumption maybe wrong). If it is, this is definitely my #1 priority for a Z30 companion. Saying replacing the Z30 makes me sad lol.

The other thing to consider is that while the all-touch only BB audience is going to be larger than the slider only audience, a slider (like the passport before it) is going to stand a better chance of attracting interest from outside the BB10 userbase which is crucial for a project's viability and in any case plenty of the current all-touch BB10 users would also consider this device too as long as the mechanism didn't add too much to the bulk of the device as they could mostly use it as just full-touch.

This is something I think that continues to play into BBRYs strategy right now. Exactly what can you do to stand out in the crowd of endless 5" all touch devices? Not very much to be honest, especially given your lack of a native apps ecosystem relative to apple/android.

So how do you then grab attention and create sales for a product/company everyone thought was dead? Make a massively wide PK qwerty with a massive battery, now make a slider. My passport hasn't converted many folks but it sure as hell has made people question their prior assumptions about the company they thought was dead. And the kicker there is the comments about missing a physical keyboard are always a part of the passport conversation when I talk to people.

People still desire the PK but they desire what's trendy much more.

BB with Chen's leadership is trying to break the mold of what is trendy right now. And it's not a bad bet given how much ADD people have in this millenium.

I love it, but I'd rather have an all touch Passport with dual curved edges on the display and a 4 row slide out touch capacitive keyboard (4th row at the top would be a line of 10 custom programmable convenience buttons).

Back on the topic of this new slider, the camera on the back looks like it will be bringing some updates with it. Also notice that there is six rows of icons now instead of 5 like on the Z30 & Z3. Display may be a bit bigger, but also icons look a bit smaller. Also noticed something on the left side of the black one. It almost looked like a convenience key or a button to eject the keyboard out... although it could most likely just be the charging port. Definitely looks high end and very classy too. There is just something so elegant about those sharp corners.

I'm not sure if this will replace my Passport, but I definitely will be picking one up when it becomes available. After seeing this though, I can't wait to see a Passport 2. BlackBerry's hardware really is the most innovative.

Hopefully they don't make that misstep. Back doesn't look like it's made of glass on the white but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me though.
