If the leaked specs are true, or better, then it would be my replacement for my Nokia 1520.

The SD 810 has 8 64-bit cores in a big.LITTLE configuration (4 A57 cores and 4 A53 cores). It doesn't really matter, though. It will run a 32-bit OS just fine, and will even give some of the benefits of the ARMv8 instruction set.
So this will be my "Official" guess. Would love to come back to this comment in a couple months time to see how close I was. Have this feeling I'm right :)

I thought 64 bit required at least 4Gb ram to be fully operational.

This will be a success only if it's released in a couple of months. If they take more than 6 months, this will be a flop, cuz it'll be just another outdated BlackBerry according to the normal consumers!

Let's examine the devices close up. You can clearly see something blocking the actual screen of the Black Slider. As if they stuck something on the screen to muffle the look/image of the screen. Its smudged in other words. Not sure why they would do this, but John Chen did state there will be unique BB10 OS innovations introduced within the OS.

Other way around. For the OS to use more than 3GB, it needs to be 64-bit. The way you said it, it really doesn't matter, especially with how developers use phones as they are now.
Only if they end up using these specs, which if it's greater than a few months (more likely), they could be using completely different hardware. Although to be honest, these specs could probably go for another year as a "high-end" phone without being criticized...

I'm actually hoping that they skip the Snapdragon 810. If they want to optimize the OS for 64-bit, they really don't have a lot of choices, but I would prefer they use the SD805 if they are going to use Qualcomm's chips for 2015 and ship another model next year with the upgraded OS and the SD820. The SD810 is bad news. I suppose with the Samsung partnership they could go Exynos 7420, which would e pretty sweet and still 64-bit.
I see, thanks for the intel

Specs is the plural of spec, not spec's.

Those specs are sweet. If BlackBerry can release this about October of this year they will do fine. It should catch a lot of people's attention and the phone will available for the Christmas shopping madness. Plus they need to market like crazy. I'm really intrigued by this phone now. This will definitely be a flagship device with the best of both worlds, full touch and slide out Keyboard. Fingers crossed.

Maybe they have two thin batteries, one in the display section and the other in the keyboard section
Why would it run on android, that makes no sense at all
Posted via CB10
You want the display part of it to be light as possible in slider mode so holding the device for keyboarding is comfortable.
I agree on all points, however if this is using Samsungs curved display you'd have to think it's a QHD display no?

So it is looking like this may be the phone as to why they hired a bunch of people for their camera division

They did? :/

They had job offerings up around October last year

For the U.S. carriers, the slider will come out MUCH later than it is initially released. It was the same case for the Q10, Z10, Z30, Passport, and the Classic. For Canadian and other carriers, the phone won't take so long to be released. So in other words, you're both right.

Oh, didn't know that.
Makes sense to me then, I really hope they do it well!

Camera systems software eh? I already like how that sounds and the possible implications of it.

Experience with Linux? Where Blackberry does they run Linux?
QNX kernel or the QNX BB10 system software may be similar to the Linux versions in some aspects maybe?
Could just be a general requirement meaning the candidates are knowledgeable and can transfer their previous Linux knowledge to their QNX systems?
It's all guesswork at this point

I keep on hearing that same thing too, a BlackBerry running Android. Why on earth would one want such a thing? BB10 is the best period.
And here is the Slider Running BlackBerry 10.3.1
