You should still give it a shot with warranty, even if you don't have it they might honor it on the basis of all devices being less than 1 year old.

Good luck trying to take your handset apart! please post pics when you do.

I'm actually more curious why OP says he doesn't have warranty, like you said all devices should be well within 1 year. Did it fell off the back of a truck?

Considering the Priv has only been on sale since November 2015 they have a 1 year manufactures warranty. I would contact BlackBerry because this is a manufacture defect. That is unless you have voided your warranty. Even if you don't have a receipt there is no possible way the device can be older then a year so they will have to honor it!

Besides a "ballooning" battery can be dangerous and they might be interested in replacing it before someone is injured.

Warranty is your best shot right now. If you didn't buy the phone new, or you got the phone wet...Finding OEM replacement parts for the PRIV is pretty hard right now. Buying a used unit sold for parts might be your best option.

Contact BlackBerry......they probably will want the battery back because this kind of failure is a real problem. They will want the lot number and production info.............call them

First thing is I would contact blackberry ASAP, regardless of where and how you got the phone. And second, how did you Remove the back cover?
