Well this is my first post, and it goes with my new Priv. I have had the phone for a little over a week and here are my thoughts:

1.) Not a bad phone, not a show stopper as of yet; but could be down the road.
2.) If you are coming from a Passport like me than the phone will be a bit of a disappointment.
3.) Heat is a concern as heat and electronics don't play nice with each other.
4.) Going to keep the phone but switch between my Passport and Priv, until they get the system balanced.
5.) I was speaking with an AT&T corporate VP who is a friend and she told me the corporate owned stores only have 100 phones each, the non-corporate have the choice to carry it. On line direct order will be the fastest.
6.) If this phone takes off and I think it might, if the stores push it. Problem is when I spoke to a few sale staff all wanted to push a Galaxy. This could be a problem.
7.) One last thing, a few issues with a new phone is not really that uncommon. I remember the I phone 3 was a mess. I think people should cool there jets and let the phone mature a little.

    Thanks for listening.

I'm in about the same boat as you. It's a big adjustment for coming from the Passport for sure.

Still not sure if I'm gonna keep mine, there's still a lot the Passport does a lot better.
I'm hoping they improve the camera software to allow slow motion and take a faster picture.

There are definitely some plusses and minuses. I really like the swipe features on BlackBerry 10. I find myself trying to do that on the PRIV.

Yup I am always swiping away...LOL. I just hope the updates come fast. I would also like to see a PRIV on OS10......what a dream that would be!

    Yeah that'd be nice!

I find my self using the on screen keyboard more so than the actual keyboard. I find the PKB is almost too small for me to be efficient enough.

I can't figure out to attach a photo directly to BBM directly from OneDrive or DropBox?

I too came from a Passport, the PKB takes a bit of time to get used to,same as when I switched from the Z30 to the Passport but in a few days it's fine but I think what I like best is using both keyboards which is unique to the Priv. I don't get some peoples difficulty or dislike of Android it's better than okay. I'm one very pleased Priv owner

I have to say that this is the most sensible discussion I've seen so far about moving from a BB10 device to the Priv. I hope to see more threads like this and hope you guys decide to keep your Privs. It will only get better.

I agree, I think just like any new phone especially one as new as this and from BlackBerry needs time just like some of the first iPhones when they came out.

The PRIV isn't perfect and comes with its flaws but does have a lot to offer. Personally I'm liking the Passport a little better right now. But it's what I've been used to for the last year and has a killer keyboard that's hard to beat.

The bugs will get worked out with future updates, which will continue to make the PRIV even better.

Bought the Priv preorder. The hardware does not disappoint.

However, the company formally known as RIM is now officially dead in my books.

I have had a Blackberry since before it had a phone built in. My 957 was the greatest email device of the time. Who cares that it was in black and white or did nothing but emails and calendar. It did emails faster and better than my computer and synced with my calendar.

Fast forward 15 years and my beloved company that was top of the world got blown away by Apple and then Samsung. And both of them won without doing my basic needs better than the BB.

Liked my passport, loved my Z30, my Z10, my torch, my curve and on down the line. But the reason I had those items and put up with the "app gap" was they let me have my own ecosystem, outside of the cloud that I could have my calendar, my contacts and my phone seamlessly. The blend feature is/was wonderful.

I do NOT want my life controlled by Google. I want hardware and software that lets me communicate and store important information on my own terms.

Any BB people reading this, please do not give up the fight. You have a better system than Android. Use the best of Android but in your own ecosystem.

My opening line was that the hardware does not disappoint. A wonderful evolution of the brand IMHO.

But it is a sellout that gave us a beautiful body with no soul.

I am trying to make a case for a BB11.

That's the thing with me. The physical keyboard. To me it is unusable. They can hopefully fix the software and the heating issues, the slow camera.. but they can't fix the keyboard. All I needed was one equal to the 9810 (which wasn't the best keyboard they ever made but still plenty usable) to be happy.

So when I consider the Priv I have to exclude the keyboard. Which means it's not worth 699 to me. I'd get it for 399. It's a beautiful looking phone. But spec wise without the keyboard you can get an android in the 399-499 range that works without the issues the Priv has right now. Guess if the price drops I'd get one a year from now.

I waited so long for a slider - hoping they'd look at the complaints about the 9810 and make a phone with a 9900 sized (and smiley shaped) keyboard.

This is a phone I wanted to love. Despite the name. But I think this phone has potential in all the other areas besides the keyboard. They can probably release fixes for most everything else.

I would forget BB10 but every time I try an Android or Apple OS, I just can't forget it.

You will. Things happens all the time and with time you will be fine. You have lots of favorites stuff but look back and what happened to them as times goes on, relegated to distant memories. 'Back in my days , there was this great os, blah blah.'
'Back in my days, beta was awesome but vhs was fine with lots of porn so it's good.' Or 'Back in my days the Amiga was freaking awesome, Apple and Windows and atari was crap'

You get the drift, if you don't you will when bb10 drift off.
